Lost 7 lbs since since last week. Not eating my beloved brownies, cookies, & sweets. I have not cut out sweet tea yet. Just less of it. I sit here eating this banana for breakfast wishing it was a brownie or covered in chocolate. We are trying to get a meal plan to change out eating habits. This is hard stuff but we have to do it. Any suggestions would be great. & I am walking everyday til I can find a gym or trainer to help me fit a program out bc if I do it at home, I won't do it lol 4951

You can do it.  Just take it one day at a time.  Don't cut out everything all at once or you might be tempted to relapse.  Everyone is different but gradual worked well for me.  I used to drink lots of soda, but slowly cut one to one a day and then one every other day and then one a week or so.  Now I still have it, but not that often. Walking is a great way to start.  Low impact but it is a weight bearing exercise.  Keep at it and you will get there.   4951

Thanks. I am know I need to give in sometime for eating a treat. I was eating like a whole bag of cookies or 2-3 brownies a day. So, I want to make sure I am eating bc I am hungry not just to eat bc I am watching a show or bored. 4951

@CC1974:
actually, the dark chocolate is very healthy. its full of antioxidents. i keep it around to help with the sweet tooth.  the high percentage cocoa is the best. Godiva has some too with almonds and its delish. just have a square or two and its satisfying and healthy.  4951

I notice that when I'm really eating healthy - no sugar or simple carbs - I feel really good, then when I have an off day and eat bad by the next morning I feel terrible. Makes me want to keep up with cutting out sugar and carbs - but sometimes those breads and dessert can be so hard to resist! 4951

Check out this web sitehttp://www.100daysofrealfood.com/She has a lot of good information, she's very serious about eating clean.  Even if you aren't as strict as she is, there's a lot of well thought out information. My only advice is if you need to lose weight, make it the last time you do it, because the yo yo thing really messes with your metabolism, I'm living proof. 4951

How great for you! Taking control of what you eat is more than healthy for your body.
Moderation is key. Not having a reward for being good even at my age of 55 is a bummer.
The good outweighs the bad.
Dark Chocolate is good in moderation.
Have you considered a breakfast smoothie to go. Use the banana, some melted dark chocolate, and some yogurt. For a boost of more flavor drop a strawberry or a couple blueberries in.
I cut out all sorts of junk food and lost 35lbs, dh lost his old man gut and 40lbs.
I cut my sweet tea sugar in half. I never drink pop without rum.
He drinks his coffee with no sugar, I use 1/2 tsp in a cup and refill half way twice.
I home bake our treats, and meals. We rarely eat out and fast food is a no-no. Cuts out all the preservatives, and chemicals. Because it's the two of us, when I bake my buttermilk sugar cookies and have 7 dozen, I freeze some before icing and take half of what's iced to a neighbor. If my dh eats them all in one sitting, I don't bake for another week and he's sol.
Meal prep is easy is you take the time to prep your veggies into containers. Easy to grab a few and a yogurt cup. Easy to steam using herbs to season with olive oil rather than butter. I bake broil and grill rather than fry.
We also went organic. It's a little pricier and a little harder to shop for, but when weighed to the cost of time spent at the doctors and scripts, well worth it.
Walking the dog I got up to six miles a day before we moved. Gotta get back at it myself. We would take one mile spurts every couple hours. Just felt like a stroll instead of a workout.
We no longer crave the sweets and when out and see the $8 tag on a bag of whatever we lol saying, so glad we don't eat that crap anymore.
Keep up the good work. Need anything holler.

You are typically better off making minor adjustments to your eating habits rather then all the nothing approach.I started by subing Whole Grain things for the bad stuff.Brown riceWhole Wheat breadWhole grain pasta, that kind of thing.and cutting out sweets (man made) not fruit.Did that for a few months until it was more normal, then started changing high carb things for better for you. Like greens, beans and other veggies, instead of potatoes.Been doing low carb now for over 3 years, and now it isn't all that hard. 4951

I would suggest following "Just Eat Real Food" on Facebook. They post a lot of healthy, mostly Paleo-style recipes. Here's one example of a healthy chocolate alternative... http://www.thepaleomom.com/2012/04/recipe-chocolate-walnut-freezer-fudge.htmlsome more...http://blog.paleohacks.com/spice-cake-recipe-coconut-cream-frosting/?utm_source=JERF&utm_medium=JerfFB&utm_campaign=spicecakejan6#http://dontmesswithmama.com/paleo-chocolate-avocado-pudding/?c=JERFhttp://renewingallthings.com/portfolio/blender-coconut-milk-ice-cream/http://swisspaleo.ch/paleo-lemon-brownies/ 4951

@pickles: Sweets are my weakness also I buy the Lindt  Excellenc 90% cocoa Supreme Dark bars for the weekends.  I use to eat on them everyday.  Full of antioxidents and fiber also.  If 90 is to bitter try the 85%.
