Since he is intent on continuing to write more and more gun control Executive Orders, I decided to go shopping today and bought 3 new toys.  The didn't have another one I wanted, so I'll have to look elsewhere.  BTW:  I prefer using local gun shops, but Carter's Country prices are high... unless they have something on sale. 4951

I listened to the discussions last night as i drive down from Missouri.

The public questions were good an his responsesz were logical and sincere.

He did admit that all of this was good advertisement for gun dealers.

And he emphasized that the new controls would not hinder good people from buying guns from legal sellers.

They simply deter guns ending up in the wrong hands. Stopping illegal sale of guns without control is left up to the States and their law enforcement agencies.

What I really liked about it was his statement that just because we can't fix it all the way doesn't mean we do nothing.

My take is that it's the sale of assault rifles without proper paper work he is after.

I believe it is just too easy for anyone to buy a gun. I happen to have a "slow" grandson and I pray somehow there are checks in place that prevent him from owning a gun!

I also own guns and have purchased a new one recently with no problem. Buy all the guns you wish. I pray you never need them to protect yourself or any of your loved ones.

Just my opinion on the subject of guns and our President. And, YES, I voted for him twice and would again. It's some of his associates I would be replacing. 4951

CNN tried to twist the town hall meeting with Obama by saying the NRA declined to attend. The head of NRA said he was invited but he could only ask one pre-screened question and he refused. So the town hall meeting was nothing more than attempt by Obama to pretend to hold a truthful meeting. Who wants to watch Obama answer pre-screened questions. He's such a phony. 4951

It was not a sincere look into the root of the problem. Completely ignoring two of the major issues, one being black Americans being responsible for over half the gun violence. They make up less than 20% of the population. That's not racist either just the fact of the matter. They are over half the problem. Until we get to that point where we can do a root cause analysis without calling each other racist and bigots no laws will do anything. He's not going to do that nor will any other democrat. 4951

"The public questions were good an his responsesz were logical and sincere."His replies were not logical.  He said he knew his EO's would not have stopped Sandy Hook, would not have stopped any of the mass shootings, would not have stopped any of the terror attacks, but he had to do something. That's ridiculous. 4951

@Retired_Engineer, didn't you think the forms you had to fill out were nuts.  Are you here illegally?  Like who in the hell is going to say yes to that?  Like what illegal is going in to buy a gun legally to begin with?

The questions were off the chart stupid and ineffective in keeping any weapon out of the hands of anyone that should have one.  Period.

The simple fact is, if you are a criminal, you aren't going to go in and buy your gun legally.  And the majority of gun violence in this country is from gang related murders.

@Fallon: they have to ask those questions to be able to charge anyone with falsifying the forms to get a gun if they lie. unless you ASK the question, then you can't charge them.  the majority of mass gun homicides are committed with LEGALLY ACQUIRED weapons. if we prevent weapons from getting into the hands of the dangerously mentally ill by having to fill out some forms and endure a background check, that is a small amount of time to invest in having your kids or grandkids safer.it doesn't prevent you from obtaining your new toys, you might just have to wait a few days. that is not necessarily a bad thing to prevent some ******** from rushing out to buy a gun because of a domestic dispute

Does not matter, all his scotch tape exec orders will be gone by this time next year. Hillary is done, just caught red handed of ordering someone to destroy the identifiers on a Government document. Can't do, not even on her level. Even if Obama does nothing she is finished. If he pardons her even more finished. Pardons do no get rid of the crime, only the time having to serve. Her security clearance would be revoked for years. Can't run for office at that point until that is cleared. 4951

I have in the past and will in the future to do my gun purchases with private parties and NO paperwork involved. It is NOT the governments business what guns I have and I refuse to comply with all and any such crap as dictated by the Kenyan. I am a free man and a law abiding citizen and as such, this is my right and how I chose to exercise it. 4951

I was at Thunder Gun Range last weekend, they had a really good sale going on, not a big selection left, looks like the're trying to get rid of inventory to make room for more. 4951

A handgun must be concealed in the vehicle.

Texas Gun Laws

Q. Can I carry a handgun without a license when driving or traveling in a Motor Vehicle?

A. Effective September 1, 2007 a person who can legally possess a
firearm may possess or carry a handgun in motor vehicle (including a
recreational vehicle with living quarters) and watercraft that is owned
by or under the lawful control of the person. However, the firearm must
be concealed, the person may not be engaged in criminal activity, and
also may not be a member of “Criminal Street Gang.” The person may also
carry the firearm to and from his vehicle without a license. (See Texas
Penal Code 46.02 (a). I also called Kingwood Police dept last week and confirmed this is in fact still legal. You do NOT need a license. 4951
