I hate this, in the past few weeks I've been getting a lot of spam.  I've been deleting and blocking, but it seems they just resend from a different email.  Other than open a new account, what can I do?  I've had this email address forever, I hate to give it up.  4951

@MarT: Check you provider to see if they have junk mail tools for use, like Microsoft, yahoo or gmail, they all do.
My account through CenturyLink has tools also.On my computer I use thunderbird, and they have tools and add-ins availableSome will allow you to block certain domains (someone@domain.com) so you can block the domain of the sender instead of the full sender name like *@spammer.com  4951

Thanks @FoFa, I'm using Outlook and was using the Sweep feature to delete and block, I'll try setting some rules, maybe that will work better.  4951

@MarT:

Just keep deleting without opening.

I've found that they get the point after a few weeks.

Remember, DO NOT OPEN THE EMAIL, just trash it. 4951

@Safety44:

Opening is only an issue of macros are enabled, auto open attachments, auto reply or auto inform sender of you reading it is set.

Hence I have none of those options set, and am very careful of attachments.

All I know is I have been flooded in the past and if I ignore them, they go away.

They usually return only after something I do triggers them again (like visiting a website). 4951

I have 2 email accounts. A Yahoo account for all the oddball places that seem to need an address for ordering, etc. and the one through my provider and using Thunderbird. Yahoo does a pretty good job of filtering out spam, and it's just a matter of letting the program delete them after so many days, or as I do daily, just to scan through to make sure a legitimate email didn't wind up in the Spam folder. I rarely ever get spam on my provider's system. I only use it for my personal contacts and business contacts that I know don't give out my email addy... 4951

@FoFaI've been creating a rule to delete anything coming from just the domain and it's working very well.  Only have 2 spam emails this morning.  Yay!  Thank you! 4951

@Safety44: Yea, when your email program allows them to ask for a read verification, and it sends it, then they know it is a good email address, and add to a Verified List they sell.
That's why turning off those options or just deleting them without opening works. 4951

I've noticed a big increase in junk email very recently and telemarketing callers too. I resent that I have to go through a process to "unsubscribe" from things I didn't subscribe to. One thing I did that helped was to make a spam folder with a filter that catches every email with the keyword "unsubscribe" in it.  All the spam mail contains the word unsubscribe and goes into that spam folder where I can delete it all with one click.    4951

@turkeytraxI don't unsubscribe to crazy spam because it just confirms it's a active email address.  I will unsubscribe to legitimate businesses, most of it which I signed up for then get sick of.  4951
