I was just wondering if you take a pay cut to have a less stressful job and be happier over all?  I ask because I was contacted randomly by a company I applied with over 2 years ago, I was flattered but declined.  I have stress at my job like we all do.  But have a lot of flexibility.  I just wondered if I should have gone to interview to see what the vibe would have been.  4951

It never hurts to gather information via a job interview. 4951

True... I guess in short it's not so much how much $$$ you make it's how much you spend.  So if you spend less it may make it easier to find a better balance. 4951

I agree, but you usually find out almost every place has warts - just different warts.
Can't hurt to look but you do end up starting all over. 4951

There's no harm in at least talking to them. I would have at least interviewed. 4951

My hubby is considering taking a 5% cut that would remove one requirement from his job which causes stress and takes him away from what he does best. I think it's a good move, we can make the adjustment. 4951

I have a lot of stress at work but I make decent money.  I would love to have a less stressful job but at this point my paycheck is what is needed in our house.  Hopefully once my DH finishes his masters then I can look for something not as stressful. The way I look at it, every job stinks even if you own the company so it is what it is.  No job is ever going to be perfect. 4951

My concern is the corporate recruiter was pushing about the job... I would be doing this, that working with this group.  We had not even met face to face at that point.  4951

I would and did. No regrets. Work related stress affects too many areas of your life. Most people spend more time at work than at home. I would have definitely interviewed. Interviews can be confidence boosters and just keep you on your toes in general. You should always maintain your employability. 4951

You can always reach out and see if they are still interested in meeting with you. All they can say is no. 4951

@Zorro: The question would be, are you content with the way things are?

I am on the fence.  The money is good, we have had 3 lay offs this year.  I have more work, but have a lot of flexibility.  I will reach out to the recruiter, you all are right what is the worst they can say... no thanks.  I don't think they have found anyone because I just get the call a week and a half ago. 4951

If you don't mind sharing...what exactly do you mean by flexibility? With 3 lay offs, I would DEFINITELY not only interview but also toss my resume out there to other companies. 4951

As long as my work is done, I can come and go as I please.  I am able to work from home.  The big downside is I have to work 11 - 12 hours a day to keep up with the 4 Executives.  It was originally 2 and sometimes 3 when that person needed help with travel.  4951

I left a management job in 2002, best mental health decision for me. I still work for the same hospital. .23 yrs now. When I look at my friends still in their mgt positions; tired, haggered and putting in up to 50 hrs a week. I leave work and worry behind! Yep took a pay cut, learned to be wiser with my money. No regrets none. Living the single good life now! 4951
