I have a couple of websites I've developed and have someone who wants to buy them. Just trying to research the selling process and determine a price. 4951

@HollyHobby:

Generally premade sites go for $50 to $100 if they are not ecommerce sites. If they include shopping carts and other fancy type features then $100-$150 is usually the range. There are a few sites you can go on that list sites for sale, can't think of the names right now. But you can list your sites and what customization is available, etc. Etsy also has a lot of that stuff, that might be your best starting point, although I have had issues with them, it might work for you. Just know they kill you in fees. 4951

Wow that's pretty cheap

@Stealth83:

Yep. That is for your basic "custom" word press or similar site. And by custom I mean a cute colored or patterned background, ability to add some photos, etc. if you want a real website made to order you are looking at upwards of $2,000. But typically when people say they make websites they are templates with a handful of color changes and format changes. 4951

One of my sites gets millions of visits/year -- that's what is kind of hard to price. 4951

It depends what you are selling. A name? A template? An established blog? Templates alone are not worth much, like I said between $25-$150 is a good range. A name? Again, not worth much if there is no substance behind it or if no one wants that name. If you owned MTV.com, sure you could probably sell it to them but that ship has long sailed. A blog or other established site is a little harder because if you aren't running it after the sale the value is really lost. What exactly do you have? 4951

@HollyHobby: I have a friend who sold a website he developed for a huge price (he said "7 figures" but didn't tell me the exact numbers) and he still lives off the proceeds years down the road.  If you are getting millions of hits, you can pull a good price.

@turkeytrax: That's what I'm thinking. These investors are frustrating to work with, though. Want ALL financials and access to all kinds of data, and I don't know, yet, how deep their pockets are. That's why I'm trying to find people who have experience with this.

@HollyHobby: It's definitely worth finding out. There's got to be a way to get some help with this.
