I still haven't found the right one in the Kingwood area. Any hair stylist recommendations? All the individual stylist that work for themselves that have cut my hair made me look like it was their first time to cut hair. So I am thinking I would like to have a haircut at a nice salon with someone with more than maybe 5 to 10+ years experience. I need someone that just has the gift to know how to cut hair Emoticon Any recommendations for a hair stylist?  4951

Someone here recommended John at Arturos, I've been a few times and I'm happy with him.  He's very willing to give input, which I need on cut and color.   I also watched another stylist while I was sitting there and she seemed very good, I think her name was Mary ( short blond hair, middle age).   One thing, this doesn't bother me, but it may some.  John is the owner or Arturos and a restaurant and he is very busy, so he may get distracted and hand you off for washing, drying, but he always did the cut, color and style himself.  I don't really need 100% attention as long as he does good work.    4951

@MarT: I was going to John at Arturo's but no more. Two weeks ago I got the worst haircut ever all because he is too busy and cannot give you the attention you are paying for. For what they charge it is not acceptable to me.

So, I too am looking for someone new so I can get a decent layered cut that does not look like it was cut by a trainee...

@tatortot58Well that stinks, I watched Mary for awhile while I was sitting there, she seemed very good.  Other people were asking for her input, etc.   Hopefully others chime in.  I only go a few times a year and color myself in between.  If I ever found a style and color I really love, I'd probably go more often.  I've only had a stylist that I loved twice, but we moved both times.   My hair is hard because it has turned curly, I don't really like the curly look on myself, but I also need easy because I'm lazy, lol.  I tried another gal, who I won't name, because she didn't do a bad job, she just wouldn't give any input on the cut or color and was very expensive. I need the help.  4951

I went to John too because my MIL recommended him. He was very busy. I toOK his advice and he told the girl what color to use, he left and came back to do the cut and left again. I kinda liked the color and was not impressed by the cut. I wish i had went to someone else there because everyone seemed very good. The girl that did my color i would go see if she cut hair. I had been seeing the same guy since 2003 but when he broke up with his boyfriend everything changed. We always got in political debates and he seems to have forgotten to cut hair. My old high school friend did my hair after that but then moved to California. My hair is a little past my shoulders, fine, straight and very thick. The next best cut I've had was at TGF I think, by Randalls on 494, a little oriental lady. She was very nice and did pretty good. It was last minute before we bought our house so I just ran in and was pretty happy. I have herd Nikki at the lofts in porter I believe is pretty good. 4951

I went to John at Arturos awhile back.  Not impressed; kept handing me off to other people and he ruined my blonde color.  Had to go have it corrected.  Use The Conservatory sometimes but they charge extra $50 for your blowout.  Usually that is included with a color or cut at other high end places.  Good luck.  I really liked the Aveta Salon in Rice Village. 4951

@HappyDay2016:

Edie at Moriris in Town Center. She has cut my hair since I was in high school, and I'm in my 40s now. She's pretty darn amazing. As a matter of fact, it's been a long while since I've been to her. May have to book for myself as well. 4951

Maybe I should try each of your recommendations until I find which one I like the best Emoticon I know the Asian lady (Vietnamese) at TGF that was mentioned earlier. I believe her name is Haung. She gives amazing kid hair cuts. I never thought to try her out myself. I wasn't familiar with Arturo's for hair. I thought that was a restaurant. I might try that one next. I want a Lob cut (aka long bob) for women. Bobs are challenging because if a person can't layer right the bob will look horrible. I use to drive to rice village for haircuts too, but really want someone local Emoticon thanks for the recommendations! 4951

I will be looking soon for a new salon and new stylist.  Things are just going down hill, the owner is distracted by her personal/party life, isn't ordering the products needed, isn't present to properly manage her people.  Each time, I see unbelievable things from complete incompetence to our right unprofessional behavior, all of which is happening because the owner isn't around to take care of business. The whole place just has the feel of one that is on the verge of imploding.  I really like my stylist, but regular over-booking and in general just "running late" is getting old.  I don't mind waiting a few minutes for my appointment, but anywhere from 30 minutes up to an hour is just not acceptable. For those familiar with the salon makeover show on BRAVO, Tabitha would have a field day in this place. 4951
