Ya got all the energy in the world to wait in line since yesterday afternoon for free crap, yet you just aren't able to work. I find this so fascinating, every year. 4951

The toy drive handouts. Hundreds of volunteers l have been working non-stop to provide for the kids when their parents WON'T, yet they will wait in line with their hands out for freebies. 4951

Yes, frustrating but this time of year volunteers are just focused on the kids and giving them a special Christmas they deserve regardless of their incompetent parents.   4951

Channel 2 just did an update. Amy Davis went up to the table and stuck a mic in the face of someone who had been in line since yesterday and she was looking down and hiding her face when she realized she was on TV. Not sure personal interviews are a great idea. 4951

I helped build and delivered bicycles with Elves and More several years ago. Aggravated the crap out of me to see three at a pawn shop before we even left the neighborhood.

The idea was kids could use the bikes to ride to school for before and after school tutoring. 4951

Why are you bothering when people won't help themselves?

Good intentions being taken advantage of by bad ones. I did Habitat for Humanity once where the people living in the home sat on the porch in lawn chairs and watched us work. After that I said never again.     4951

Most of them are probably the same folks that were protesting at the Zoo Christmas light display last night. 4951

@beastmode: Ha, had a similar experience.  Volunteered for a neighborhood clean-up in a low-income area and the bozos that threw all that crap all over the placer sat on their porches and watched us work.  I also vowed never again.  Poor doesn't mean you have to be a slob and I certainly don't have to clean up after you.

So? Kids can volunteer also.

@Stealth83:
Yes, the older ones can, no argument there from me. Never said they could not. 4951

To clarify, this thread started out as why to give the toys for toy drives, not the housing issue.  First response I gave was to that, they are children. 4951
