Good morning all,
I tried to do the update from my original thread, but it appears to have been locked. Not sure why, there was nothing offensive in the thread that I was aware of, but if so, my apologies.
This past Friday, my son had to be admitted for a blood transfusion, his hemoglobin dropped dangerously low and wow, did they move fast. It still is not where they would like it to be, but they were able to release him.
Anyhow, my son had the scheduled colonoscopy on Monday and they were able to really get a better look at what is going on. We thought he was in complete remission, but it appears that he is not. The colitis now is not just contained to the 8 inches of the colon, but the entire colon.
We are now going to be trying either Humira or Rimicade to see which one he will respond to. We are almost at the tail end of tapering off the steroids and he will be stopping the chemo drug in order to start the new drug.
He is such a strong kiddo, but goodness, he is dealing with a lot for an 18 year old. I tell him that there is a reason all this is happening and just as trials and tribulations have made me a stronger person, this too will make him even stronger.
Again, thank you all for the prayers and words of strength.
