I was shopping for some Christmas cards for my daughters teachers and geez they are pricey!  $4 and up.  I decided to write them a nice note on some stationary i already have.   4951

I think it is ridiculous what they charge for cards.  I go to Walgreens and they have a section of 99cent cards. Not a very good selection but it beats the heck out of spending $5 for a darn card. 4951

My ex SIL and I used to find the cheap cards in the other languages to send to each other. We did it every month for years. Had no idea what they said. 4951

I looked for the 99cent section at HEB but didn't see it.  Thats ok a nice handwritten note feels good to write.  My daughter has such great teachers at her preschool.  They make learning fun for her and make it easy for me to drop her off at school in the mornings. 4951

@foxymama, a note written from your heart will mean more to those teachers than a $100 card you could buy!  Such a wonderful thing to do.

@Fallon: I think so too.  I did put in $10 HEB gift cards too.  Food prices are so crazy these days, i spend the same on food every month as i do my mortgage payment!  Figured it could help them.   4951

My husband's family and their close friends have had a funny tradition for years and years. They save their really good or funny cards. Then when they want to send one to a good friend or family member they pull out an appropriate one and just mark out the name of the last sender and add their own. My MIL would receive cards back and forth from her friends that would have 5 marked out names  and would often get her original cards back.   This has gone on years. Wouldn't work too well for casual acquaintances but within the family we love it!   4951

I agree, I can't afford to spend $5 or more to buy just a card.  I shop in the 99 cent section too.  Then if I want to add something, I write a nice note inside.  4951

@foxymama: What about buying the boxed Christmas cards (20-25 per box)? They might be smaller but there is still room to write a nice heartfelt note. It might be $4-5 per box vs per card. 4951

I always buy my cards from the 99 cent store or Dollar Tree.  They usually have a pretty good selection and can always find something nice.   And I think Dollar Tree sells their cards 2/$1.00 also.  Check those stores out. 4951

@Djbs:
I didn't even think about those stores! Thanks. That is where I buy gift bags, so much cheaper and a good selection. 4951
