I read an article that said to hide money and valuables in your freezer.  Thieves don't think to check there.   4951

I had an uncle who died and his wife kept finding money out in his workshop behind the garage. He stashed several hundred dollar bills in drawers, coffee cans and other odd places. She was ****. 4951

When I was growing up, someone broke into our house, and they went through the refrigerator and freezer....nothing valuable but they did take a half empty bottle of wine.... The other thing that I thought was odd was a pillowcase.... but i guess thats what they put all my moms jewlrey and silver in... Emoticon 4951

The freezer is actually now a common place to look , however if you ever have a fire it is kind of a fireproof safe so you may be able to salvage document and money if there are in the freezer. 4951

The freezer is a common spot. Thieves do think of it because that's exactly where many thieves stash their own "extra cash". Former congressman Bill Jefferson of LA famously stashed his cold hard cash there.

If you have an extra stash of cash you don't want to deposit (wink, wink, nudge, nudge), and it's too much to stash in a ziplock at the bottom of a fish tank, go the extra mile and head to the attic.

If placing it under insulation is too obvious, tie bundles of cash to one end of long pieces of string. You should be able to find either gaps in the interior walls or around the fireplace where you can drive a nail to hang the non-cash end of the string. Dangle the cash down these gaps in the walls. 4951
