So I've seen him on the debates. Read the media blurbs, thought he was pretty much a nut bucket. So last night I was flipping channels. Since I had a (ahem) few shots of adult beverages (red stag black cherry) jump'n in the car and running up to red box was not an option. I also had perused Netflix and On Demand and nothing struck my fancy. So as I am running up and down the channel list on SuddenLink, I spy a Donald Trump gathering in Manassas, VA. Think I'll flip that on for 3 or 4 minutes until I get tired of him.50 minutes later, I am rather impressed by what I hear, right from his own mouth.Quite the difference than what the debates or media show. Quite a bit different.Sure he is still full of himself, but not near as bad as the media portrays. And he was saying all the right things, and I also think he believes it, which goes a long way to trying to get some of it done. And there was a tiny amount of entertainment value, not a dry boring talk like a lot of the others. 4951

@FoFa: He has the freedom to speak his mind because he is own man and not a puppet on a string, forced to please his donors. That scares the **** out of the media and career politicians.

@sooner34: That's what I like about him.  He isn't the one want, but IF he becomes the nominee then I wouldn't feel too bad about it.  Just don't know if he could beat the Dem nominee.  That's always the question.  You have to get behind someone that mirrors your values and vision for America, but also could beat the Dem rep.  I know a lot of republican voters that didn't like the last rep nominee and so they didn't vote.  I am kind of irritated by them because I feel that their choice not to vote kept our current Pres in office.  They might as well have voted for him.

It's hard to admit that I like the Donald too, but the proof will be in the pudding. Only when he finally starts talking about specific plans, not just general promises, will I be totally convinced. But honestly, they all scare the caca outta me! 4951

The same people who now say the vilest things about him and mock him were big fans of his show. Only when he started speaking up and saying things about the status quo and sided with the eeeeevil Republicans ( who also hate him), did he suddenly become a fool, a buffoon. No one becomes a billionaire without being incredibly savvy.

All the haters listen to the edited snippets from his speeches and then the snarky editorial comments from the so-called journalists and think they know all there is to know about Trump. They don't realize it's all about keeping them on the plantation, voting for whom they're told to vote. 4951

If you can weed through his bravado, he does make some interesting points.  He has a following and is not going away anytime soon. 4951

it was also interesting that christie blamed the paris attacks on the rescinding of the nsa authority for mass collection of phone data...even tho the mass collection of phone data was still continuing past the time of  the attacks. do these people have to be simpletons  to appeal to their base or is it a conscious choice to be a simpleton? 4951

the biggest problem with Trump, is he doesn't seem to understand that the job isn't CEO of a Corp., it's Pres.. he would have to get through Congress, that wouldn't happen. He's used to giving orders, and firing underlings if they don't obey him. We desperately need a leader who can work with the other side to get things done. 4951

@Nurse3: I don't think you will see another dem, especially Hillary get voted in, in the next election. People don't like the direction this country is going in & they blame Obummer but also the whiney, PC liberals. I notice in the last two weeks just reading different newspapers and online stuff people who believe in this country and what it was founded on are starting to push back. The tides are a changing....

Why?  Has O worked with the Rep's once?  Nope.  He told them day 1, you lost we won.  And he has gotten everything he wanted done.  We do not have to work with the other side.  O has shown us all the new way.

@Fallon: simply wrong. remember mitch mcconnell's public statement that the first duty of republicans ws to ensure that obama was a one term president. remember the strident voices declaring compromise was treason and 'our time has come. we don't have to and we won't compromise'. i suggest some medical attention for increasing memory lapses.

I would love to see Trump go against Hillary. I look forward to see what he's dug up on her, Bill, emails and foundation. I hope he goes after her for selling out our country while she was SOS.Her and Bill have racked up more than $2 billion in donations and have only given 10-20% so far. Bill was accused of raping and/or sexually assaulting 3 women while president, yet he was not charged. He really sank the presidency to a new low. Then Obama came in and became the worst president ever since jimmy carter. I'm not sure she will be defeated. I hope she is but her and her band of lying politicians will lie and cheat to get in. All she is going to be is a repeat of Obama. This country can't take much more of their crap. 4951

actually she did not. the question was why not declare war? the answer is, in reality, declaring war on isis would convey a legitimacy and a status to the organization and its adherents which does not exist when it is simply an illegitimate and stateless terrorist group.to declare war would mean combatants captured would have more of a pow status than that of a captured member of a criminal conspiracy. the comment about the facebook was that isis seems to be more adept and skilled at proselytizing using social media.  the sum total of the remarks was that to defeat isis we need to defeat them by air power, land forces, economics and by the more skilled use of social media. who knows? maybe using social media to post photos of the smoking remains of suicide bombers to counter the glorification might help. 4951
