Anyone from Birmingham or Atlanta?

My husband has job offers there. Just curious about cost of living and schools. 4951

@foxymama: I would avoid Atlanta like the plague.  Birmingham is slightly better if you pick the right burb to live in and of course the greatest college campus in the free world is about an hour West.  4951

I lived in both cities! I loved both!  Birmingham : Inverness, traffic is bad. Atlanta I lived in Alpharetta...good schools. It's going further north now into north Fulton county. Cost of living is about the same. Except for taxes...cheaper in ga.  4951

@cgm10sne1:
I noticed the state tax is cheaper in AL- 5% vs GA 6%
Is sales and property taxes cheaper in GA? 4951

@foxymama: Just no.  Maybe the worst city in America.  This would be the 3rd choice and that's a stretch competing against Atlanta.  The only way I could do Memphis is live in MS and commute.  Southhaven is not bad.    4951
