What are your favorite holiday activities? Do you do something new each year? Stick with old favorite family traditions? Or Both? Like we always do on Black Friday, we stay home and watch Christmas movies. CHRISTMAS VACATION is always first and our favorite. As goofy and eff'd up as they are, they have cool traditions like going to cut their own tree, having everyone and their dog over for the week before Christmas. 4951
Lost most traditions since it's just us and no longer own our home. We never ever go out on black Friday. We just think it's negative to the spirit of Christmas.
We too eat, watch movies and get things rearranged. Out with the gently used. We start to plan our treats, menus, and things. For Christmas we don't really buy stuff, or splurge on silly stuff. Our anniversary is Friday. So if we do anything big it's then. He's already starting the what do you want to do? I want to take the money add it to the Rv account. 4951
The first day or so of Christmas break my kids invite their friends over to decorate cookies and sip on hot cocoa and wassail. We play christmas music and watch one or two of those Hallmark xmas movies too. I also get my girls a gingerbread house to decorate so we can have it on display.Christmas day we watch Elf, A Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation and do a big family dinner. 4951

@Maisey1: We've been watching the Hallmark movies, too. I was very surprised, but The Hubs loves them. We try to catch them all but settle for as many as we can. 4951
We switch up the music we listen to. My DW likes more of the popular holiday songs from the 50's to now whereas I am prone to classical. Her new car has Sirius and she has already saved 2 stations doing Christmas music. We also watch a lot of our favorite Christmas themed movies. Our favorite is the musical version of Scrooge with Albert Finney, my wife tends to also like ones that might be more in the Chick-Flick genre like "While You Were Sleeping" with Sandra Bullock and "You've Got Mail" with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. And of course there is "A Christmas Story" with the Red Rider BB Gun. We always watch "A Child's Christmas in Wales" with Denhome Elliot on Christmas Eve. I have a CD recording of Dylan Thomas reading that work. For us the holiday time is more about being together, sitting by the fire and enjoying the decorations. We do Christmas day itself over at the kids house nearby. 4951
ahhh yes, getting in touch with the true meaning of xmas....one christmas they had a televised christmas music concert and one of the acts was shedaisy who knocked it out of the park with ye olde christmas carol complete with pelvic thrusts....after all what's a christmas without pelvic thrusts?and there are always the traditional religious carols..... Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates.
'In honor of this holy season' Saint Peter said, 'You must each possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven.'
The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. He flicked it on. 'It represents a candle', he said.
'You may pass through the pearly gates' Saint Peter said.
The second man reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys. He shook them and said, 'They're bells.' Â 'You may pass through the pearly gates'.
The third man started searching desperately through his pockets and finally pulled out a pair of woman's panties.
St. Peter looked at the man with a raised eyebrow and asked, 'And just what do those symbolize?'
@FoFa: Rum and eggnog is always good and I tend to overindulge in the pleasure of rum raisin ice cream. I don't gain weight just a higher HDL Cholesterol count. 4951
