So we woke up this morning and after coffee and our own computer time I ran into her in the kitchen and I said, "Happy Anniversary, honey." She blushed and returned the phrase. She said, "I didn't get you anything," and I replied, "Well, I didn't either." We have a standing rule after 17 years that our gift to each other is a gift for our home or a trip somewhere. But no trips planned this year, maybe order the granite for the kitchen but have to wait to see the Christmas Bonus. So later in the day I ran into Randalls and she said she would stay in the car as it was raining and her feet were already wet. I got a small bunch of roses and a card. "Darn you!" she said when I got back to the car. "What's your complaint? The roses are for me!" I told her. Leftovers be damned. Cooking a few steaks tonight with some potatoes and green beans. May eat some leftover cheesecake or pumpkin pie for dessert. 17 years.... LONG HARD YEARS as we always kid ourselves and our family. Best years of our lives.
@Chrisinkingwood:
Congrats on the 17 years
We're on our 43rd (oops 44th) and feel the same way.
