I discovered this department store chain several years ago while shopping online.  I've never been to one of their stores (up north but none in Texas.)   Just out of curiosity, is anyone familiar with this chain?  In person, what are they comparable to here in Houston...Kohls?  Macys?  Dillards?  JCPenny?  the old Mervyns?  Something else? 4951

I went to Boscov's a few times while visiting family in Delaware.  It is similar to Macy's.  The one I went to was a bit overcrowded with bargain racks.   4951

I bought nearly all of my Christmas from them 10 or so years ago. Everything was fine. The only thing I remember in a bad way was their packaging. They would send HUGE boxes that were basically taped or stapled together for 1 or 2 small items. That's probably changed by now though, I'm sure. I've never been in a B&M store. 4951

Yes grew up with them. I find them more like Dillards. You have to pick and choose your level of quality. The b&m is no different than any other department store.
Macys isn't even what they used to be.
As I told dh, I'm not interested in paying extra because something has some soon to be washed up star, singer, wanna be politicians name on it.

@beadweaver:  And they all want to put their name on some stink water and call it fragrance.  In fact, I avoid those at all costs, even if I like the scent.  Designer names, yes...celeb names, NO NO NO!!!

When did celebrity fragrance become such a thing?  Even if it happens to smell good, who's going to make the Ke$ha perfume their "signature" scent?  Do you really think you'll be wearing Jessica Simpson perfume in 20 years?Or maybe I'm the only one still wearing the same perfume every day.It's funny, I was thinking about this the other day after I saw a commercial for White Diamonds.  The same exact commercial they ran a million years ago where she hands some dude an earring for luck.  I think Elizabeth Taylor is the only one who's ever successfully made a celebrity fragrance. 4951

@JeepHair:  Did she create it or was she just the celebrity spokesperson?  I was never under the impression that she was the creator.

@donnatella: According to wiki, she "created" it.  (As much as any celebrity "creates" a fragrance, anyway).https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Taylor#Perfume_and_jewelry_brands

I lived in Delaware for over 10 years and it was a step down from Macy's....not quite Mervyn 's. It was really the last place I went to find something. Boscov's is related to Leggett and Belk's if you are familiar with those (east coast ). 4951

@donnatella:

I would say Dillards. My family lives in northeast PA and Boscov's was always "the" anchor store in their very small town.

It was where one went when you wanted to find something "really nice."

Macy's and Niemans severely outpaces them however. 4951
