For paddling in that area, I generally just park at the Y and put in there.  It's a short paddle down the bayou and not far around the golf course to get into that area.  4951

I never thought about parking at the YMCA.  I have paddled Bens Branch but did not know you can launch from the Y.  That is about the same distant from launching at Lakeview Park on Kings River Road.I've been wanting to explore the peninsula that splits the west and east fork and was looking for a closer spot to launch. (see photo)

Scenic Shore is much closer to the area than the Y. 4951

Ok, thanks everyone.  I was out there yesterday, but launched from Kings River and did not have enough daylight to explore the peninsula area.  I saw a lot of birds and did not have my camera.  I need to go back out there.  4951

Usually a big group of pelicans by the small island at the mouth of Bens Branch.  You can spot some Bald Eagles now and then in Forest Cove Marina as well as river otters. 4951

Bald Eagles

@kingwooddiscgolf:  I've seen a pair hunting down around Otter Point at East End a few times as well.  Never seen pelicans out there but I don't doubt you on it.

There are 100s of pelicans on what i call Pelican Island southwest of Scenic Drive launch point (see photo)  I have yet to see a bald eagle.  When I do, I will go nuts!  I've seen otters on the main channel of the West Fork across from Kings Harbor.  I've seen some wild boar of the island next to the channel between the West Fork main channel and Bens Branch.  There is a lot  of wildlife out there.

Used to be a nesting pair of bald eagles in the King's Point/ Royal Shores area close to the lake. Haven't heard anyone mention them last year though 4951
