The DW and I had to run into BB&B yesterday and made the mistake of going into Petsmart as they have their weekly rescue dog sale going on. They had the cutest litter of pups that were part Lab and part Belgian Malinois mix. They really had the lab look, there was one blonde, three reddish brown ones and one who was dark brown with a black face. We've been thinking of a replacement for our Lab who passed early on this past year and want another one or a mix. Only thing was these were all males and we really prefer a female so we passed. The Belgian Malinois is like a German Shepherd in many ways. Supposed to be good companions, loyal and smart. They do need a lot of exercise like Labs but I don't mind that. 4951

A cat would go well at your house too, and I just happen to have a black kitty available! 4951

@bubbleyes72:Boys are more prone to marking. We have one of each and I love them both but prefer boy pups.  I found that female GSD's tend to be more alpha. Also, some people believe that boy dogs get along better with women and vice versa. 4951

We almost got a golden heat pyr mix. But found out she was sent to Washington state! So then the sales pitch started, and wife said we wanted another female, 4-5 months old. Then they said they would not place a same sex in a house with one, we should get a male. We don't want a male.
Oh well, still think we can wait. But was hoping for a great pyr. Type that liked to swim.

I wish my wife had that mentality, 3 dogs now I had no say so in which is disturbing to say the least. Only one dog is functional, the other two are small runts, could not scare a mouse if they tried. Always discuss it first if you are married or have a companion. I can't stress this enough. Has caused much grief and misery for me. 4951

@Cajunmom: Audrey has been missing your boys in a big way today. Very restless, always getting up and looking around, going outside a lot. I'd say she had a great vacation last week! Emoticon

@bubbleyes72: Don't know other than that is always what we have had. No bad feelings for males, I have had many family and friends with them. Males tend to mark territory more and I've read are more aggressive in not neutered than females. It's kind of like wanting a yellow Lab over a black one, just a preference.
