The only reason we can't keep the boarder secure is because we have leadership that doesn't see this as an issue. No other country has open boarders. And it is insane to think we should.
@Fallon: Well you can call it what you like but by definition the USA has a controlled border and NOT an open border. An open border has no restrictions on movement of any kind. The USA/Mexico border is the most frequently crossed controlled international boundary in the world, with an estimated 350 million legal crossings being made annually. Do we have people who enter illegally by crossing our border? Most certainly but that does not define an "open border". And technically the EU countries within the Schengen agreement as well as the UK and Ireland have what is known as a "conditional open border" This along with a single currency were one of the biggest goals of the EU. The Agreement provided for harmonisation of visa policies, allowing
residents in border areas freedom to cross borders away from fixed
checkpoints and the replacement of passport checks with visual
surveillance of vehicles at reduced speed and vehicle checks that
