Just wondering. My stepson and his wife have 5 kids and 4 of them have November and December birthdays so they usually start in the summer collecting the things that they will either give for birthdays or Christmas. Helps financially to do it that way. My wife usually gets going in November and into December, the hardest thing is forcing ourselves to get things mailed out for the ones in other states without paying rushed shipping fees.  She does a big Excel spreadsheet with it all laid out, who is getting what, etc.I mostly shop online and have stuff delivered, Amazon Prime is my friend. I also give a lot of pictures I have taken over the year of family members. I look for frames on sale and do my own matting. 4951

@BooBear: That is fun, you should package it in a new set of underwear.

I just can't think about Christmas shopping until after Thanksgiving.  I like to experience one holiday at a time, and unless I run across a special something and buy early, I usually wait.  I'm not a Black Friday shopper, but I do start building lists and loading up my Amazon.com cart. (Yes, CART...I said it.)Everyone I buy for is difficult, because, like me, if they want it, they buy it when they want it, so by Christmas, there's nothing on their wish lists.  I usually get them gift cards to their favorite restaurants, Starbuck's, etc. For the kids in the family (not kids anymore), cold hard cash always works.  I usually put that in a cute card with a box of chocolates or candy and poof, I'm done. 4951

Funny but my wife used to enjoy the early morning shopping on Black Friday before it got like a war zone. She said a lot of stores gave away gifts at the door and the shoppers weren't in such a frenzy and their were plenty of good deals to make it worthwhile.  She's quit since it got so crazy. When I had my duck/goose lease in Eagle Lake I always saw the people at the malls as I head out to hunt at 4am. Now I just sleep in. 4951
