Second Baptist has lots of activities for kids and youth. They have an early service with traditional music, then a later service with contemporary music, to suit everyone's tastes. 4951

Second Baptist also has a service on Saturday's at 6 that is pretty great. Praise team, band and casual.  I don't know much about the youth program anymore but it was great when it was Forest Cove back in 1998. 4951

Kingwood First Baptist has a great youth group.  My DD has been there since middle school and graduates this year.  They do have a lot of activities, but they also focus on worship and Bible Study.

@Mahm:

Second Baptist has a good youth programs from experience. St. Martha's Catholic on NP has one as well I believe and their more contemporary mass is held on Sunday evenings at 5:30 4951

There is an absolute abundance of youth ministries in and around Kingwood.

I recommend trying a few churches out to see which is the best fit for your family.

Also, be wary of the "youth church" model. It's fantastic when kids are 11-18, but can make the transition to adult church really hard if their entire experience of church has been in a separate silo with people of their own age and interests. 4951

@forner:

That was true for me as a kid. I was an active member of a big church in Pasadena with an exciting youth group. I looked forward to Wednesday nights with the youth band and our youth pastor giving a relatable sermon. After I graduated, I went a few times to the adult service and the college and career bible study, and then I stopped going for many years. 4951

I don't get the separate message thing. I always went w my parents on Sunday's and we would talk about/reflect afterwards. 4951

For the most part the system hasn't changed, which is why there are so few twenty-somethings in church. We've fed them a message that church is all about what they can receive from it from day one. The real fruit of youth ministry is 5-10 years after a kid has graduated High School.   4951
