@radiogirl30:  Our first "remote control" for my parents TV only had one button that turned the TV on and off.  It was mechanical and felt like a spring hitting something inside it.

I don't know why they stopped putting it in the floor. It's a very convenient place. 4951

@Ray:
I thought you were asking about the clutch since most don't know why you would have 3 pedals.

I do not know what the other thing is.

Is it a manual choke pedal (the one furthest right)?  Or did older cars have some sort of other mechanical way of engaging the choke?  I know the button on the floor is the switch for high beam to low beam. 4951

Oh wait my bad on the original pic. I thought it was a starter button- My dad's pick up had a starter button on the floor to the right of the gas- maybe that's what that is on the red pick up picture.Now I remember what the first pic is- and I do wish it was still on the floor- if I want to flash someone 9 out of 10 times I end up turning on the wipers!!! 4951

Dead pedal to rest your foot or some sort of mechanical cruise control (fuel advance).

Or it is a starter button. 4951

The choke on my Dad's PU was a knob near the steering column- like the pic- but I don't remember what the other knob was. If that PU was green instead of red I'd say it WAS my Dad's PU. I loved that old thing- sometimes he load us and all the neighbor kids in the back and take us for ice cream.The only thing better than that was the neighbor across the street loading us up in his old Army Jeep and drive off road in the farmers (cattle) field behind his house- with permission from the farmer of course!!!Man the good ole days growing up in a small town!!!! 4951
