I heard there was a dui accident last night/ early morning and a 19 yr old drunk doing 80 hit both the police cars investigating.
I only caught a snippet. Has anyone heard anything besides the 19 yr old is in the hospital? 4951

@beadweaver: Here's a statement from HPD:Monday, 11/9/15, 11PM - Two HPD officers responded to a wreck at the 3200 block of Kingwood Drive, and were securing the area by blocking the road with their patrol cars. A 19-year-old male in a blue Acura approached at a high rate of speed and smashed into both cruisers. One of the officers was inside his vehicle and the other was not. Neither of them were injured. The suspect was taken to NE Memorial for his injuries, and will be booked on DWI charges upon his release.  4951

That was a nice car. They flashed it on the news. Sad 19 and he'll have very high insurance for a very long time. His job options will suffer, his life changed in a flash, so can your kids or your life.
People need to wake up and stop the nonsense.
All I can say is somebody was looking out for him and the officers just doing their jobs. I am sure the way they do things will forever change too.
The kids damn lucky he did not kill anyone including himself. 4951

As someone who was run over by a drunk driver and nearly killed, I have no respect for people who drive while under the influence, or are just not careful enough behind the wheel. I'm living with the life long consequences of another person's choice to drink and drive. 4951

Should have more sense at 19.  He could have killed someone.  What a reckless selfish jerk.  I hope they prosecute him to the highest extent of the law and the person who sold him his alcohol. Hopefully the officers are alright. 4951

@ForeCPA90: disagree. That would have been easy. Worse would be to kill someone else and have to live with it.

I only think about the tough time I had leaving my 23 year old in jail for three months.

He cried and begged like a baby, but I held me tears back until I was out of his site. I also held firm that NO, YOU ARE NOT GETTING OUT AGAIN, not until we all know you are going to change.

He's been clean for nearly ten years now. But he and dad still remember those nights and days!

Fallon, I strongly disagree.  You can't sugar coat dangerous behavior.  They have to learn that the wrong decisions on their part will probably have unpleasant consequences.  Otherwise, we will have a repeat of the Whiney self serving generation that we witnessed this week in Missouri. 4951

@doddlebug: Re-read; perhaps you missed something in what @fallon wrote.
