Thank you Lord!!
That woman is insane. Twisting lies so only a few can have so-called "rights" at the expense of very possible danger for women and children. And to say that it shouldn't have been subject to poplar vote..hello we live in a democratic county. We have every right to say no to something so morally wrong. 4951

How many of you really understand that YOUR CITY COUNCIL passed this originally.

@Stealth83:

I understand this, I also understand our Texas Supreme Court struck down their vote and required it to be either repealed or put to a public vote. Evidently the city council overstepped their power. Thank goodness for checks and balances. 4951

I don't understand.  They say that it isn't about the bathrooms, but refused to reword it.  I think it would have passed with a little revision to protect women and children. 4951

@Nurse3:

It would have passed without the "sexual identity" classification. Business are already bound by federal law as far as discrimination goes..Houston tried to add another class to it. That is what was struck down. No one still has the right to discriminate based on sexual orientation, race, sex, etc. 4951

They argue that if it was passed that it would still be illegal for men to use women's restrooms, but the problem is if a man, who is a man and dresses like a man, says "I feel like a woman today" then he is free to use the woman's restroom. Unfortunately, this isn't the last time we'll see this and they'll try to pass it again, but we have to step again to dispute it.  4951

And when your representatives go against your wishes, do you not appeal? Do you not seek to replace them? I'm sure you just roll over when it happens on a state or national level too, right? You never get upset about HOA actions because they are elected representatives of the neighborhood and therefore infallible right? 4951

Yeah, I know.  That is one of the things that gets me.  It's a redundant law except for the bathroom issue.  We have state and federal laws to protect against discrimination, so why the city law if it wasn't about the bathrooms?  Seems like a waste of time, money, energy and emotion and a dividing factor against the LGB community.  I have no problem with the choices others make as long as it doesn't infringe on my family and my rights and safety.  If you have certain body parts go to the correct bathroom.  I can't even imagine the debacle that it would cause in the high schools if this was passed.  4951

@BooBear: Exactly. Which means that since no one on the city council was voted out - they will try it again.

@Stealth83:

We will have a new mayor with a different agenda so it may or may not come back up for a while. I honestly don't know the positions of our mayoral candidates on this. 4951
