I rarely listen to local radio except for in the morning. You would think a market the size of Houston would have a decent selection of stations. 4951

I was a Sirius subscriber for many years since they first came on the scene. At one time I had it in my car, as a part of our home stereo system and also a portable Sirius radio that was great in my garage. But I felt like after the XM merger I noticed the same songs being played every day on the stations I liked. I also felt the sound quality was never a truly high fidelity experience.  Seemed like it always sounded a bit tinny.  Finally just quit subscribing. 4951

I let my Sirius XM radio expire. It was $200/year for one car and both had it. We just didn't use it enough to justify the expense.

@sooner34:   I absolutely despised Houston morning radio.  I tried every station available on my drives to work.  Those "talk" shows were the worst!  I finally just listened to CDs or news radio. There were a few channels I could listen to on the drive home.

Don't you 2 know the trick? You wait til it's about to expire then you call in and say you want to cancel. 10 times out of 10 we always get a kick butt deal.

Edited to add: we are currently paying about $75/year Emoticon 4951

@friday1: Sirius is actually doing well. No commercials, contracts with car manufactures. Large selection. You can also buy a lifetime subscription. I bought one 7 years ago for $450.  That's about $5 a month. I also get a free replacement radio if it dies. I'm still on the first radio so it will likely be less than a dollar a month for something like 15-20 years. Also listen to any NFL game. Hard to beat it.

I used to do that with AOL...I think I didn't pay them for a couple of years..everyone I called, they would give me 6 months free.
