I'll help her, but I need proof first, not giving my money to a scammer. 4951

@bittone: She wasn't being rude, she is offering to help and only wants proof of where the money is going

Have you considered getting together and have a multi-family garage sale?

Is she a member of a local church that could band together to assist her?

Has she sought assistance from HAAM or Salvation Army?

Has she applied for assistance for housing, Medicaid or food stamps?

What has been done up to this point, by her, to try to remedy the issue?

Asking for cash for a friend just seems highly suspicious. The closer we get to the holidays the more we see scams and plots to take advantage of those willing to give. 4951

I know that she has reached out to HAAM.  She is a member of a Kingwood church and they helped her with her October rent.  She's been desperately looking for a job, any job she can get.  I don't know if she has applied for Housing or food stamps.  My understanding is Housing can take months or years and she would not qualify for food stamps because she has a car.  I;m not sure how food stamps work but I believe if you have a car or anything you would not qualify. 4951

She also really needs to try and work with her landlord, especially starting a new job that she doesn't have yet, she may get this month's covered, but next month is coming fast. 4951

@friday1: $10.00 from 50 or 100 people goes a long way.

Does she not have family or friends she can reach out to?  I would think there are other remedies before  going to complete strangers online....Cut the cable, internet, etc.  That alone will save over $100 per month. 4951

So the church covered last month's rent and now a month later, still no job?

Seems like before one goes to asking for handouts for strangers through a friend, one would take any job advertised just to make ends meet, then work on finding the job she desires. There are restaurants and bars all over looking for wait staff, grocery stores looking for sackers.

We shouldn't have to help support someone not willing to do what it takes to makes ends meet in desperate times.

@bittone: Look in the job posting section here.  Primrose school is ALWAYS looking for people!  There are several jobs posted that require no education or experiene.

My guess is that as long as people and groups keep covering her rent, there will be little motivation to change the situation. That's the never ending pattern of raising multiple generations on welfare. Stop the handouts and force them to stand on their own two feet and support themselves. 4951
