Does anyone have any ideas on what I can keep my dogs food in other then the standard plastic dog food storage containers? We had it in a cute tin but we found a bug in it this morning because it was not air tight. We keep it in the kitchen so I would like it to be presentable. Any out of the box ideas? 4951

We used a large Rubbermaid tote that would hold 50 lbs. 4951

I have seen some people convert an old dresser into a combo dog crate food storage area.  I want to try it but I need to find a piece of furniture that will fit in a specific area where the crate currently is.  Dog doesn't go in his crate much, but sometimes he does so we can't really get rid of it.  Besides, the area would look naked if we did. 4951

I bought a bunch of one Gallon Plastic Containers with lids. Like the kind pickles come in, and I use those. I buy the food in 50 lb containers and the gal containers just make it easier to dispense. Keeps the food fresh and kritters out. 4951

Are you sure the bug was yours?

Paint the plastic one. They sell plastic paint. Get the colors from your kitchen. See painted garbage cans.
Cover it with a matching material or contact paper.
I portion it out for a week or two at a time in 1 1/2 cup portions. I set those on the pantry shelf and makes meal time super easy.
When we had two dogs, we used a rubbermaid bin and never had issues.

I don't know why they don't make zipper bags on certain packages. My bird food has one but that too has a bad zipper so it goes into an air tight container.

Btw I do not throw the bag away until it's gone.
If you don't want to fold and save the bag, at least cut off the contact and upc.
I once opened a bag of bird food with worms, they took right back. Another had a whole almond in shell. That got me 3 company coupons for $10 off each bag. Being they are $20 each, it's been nice. They set me up till the new year.
you can use double sided tape to put a clear pocket on the side of the container and just slide it in and easy to change out when adding a new batch. Never mix new and old food. Finish then refill. You don't want to contaminate the older batch if something is amiss. 4951

We let our Grand kids draw pictures on large construction paper then tape it around the bucket.I found that buckets work just as well as refrigerators for displaying fine art. 4951
