I'll watch, I can't help myself. Not really rooting for anyone, still open to almost anyone. Although, I'd like to see a bunch of them quit, just too many now. 4951

I'll start watching when they actually start debating.    For years, all the "debates" are is an opportunity to make some BS statements and take a few shoots at an opponent(s). 4951

No point in watching for me. Just a bunch of rhetoric. Take Obama, all the things he said none of it materialized. None. I didn't vote for him because I knew it was impossible to do all the things he stated and I was correct. Mainly; still in Afghanistan and Iraq, GITMO still open for business, healthcare went up and no keeping doctors. And transparency, worse than ever before. I like Trump and Carson but building a wall won't work. They will stop coming across when there are no jobs and benefits. The number of them coming across slowed down drastically when the economy crashed. I mainly like Trump, he knows how to create business and fix trade deals that are hurting US workers. We can't compete with workers living in dirt and filth working for pennies. I also sense he has no real loyalty to any party which is exactly what we need. Hold everyone accountable to the same standards no matter what party.   4951

Headed to Galveston for my Wednesday dinner date with my wife, won't be turning on the TV. But I think this debate might be the bellwether for who will or should drop next. There is the minor league debate prior to the one for 2.5% and higher candidates and it doesn't look like any of them should really waste the money on campaigning much longer.  Does anyone really think Jindal, Graham, Pataki or Santorum has a chance at this point. And Huckabee? I would expect Trump to try to gain points over Carson but both can be inarticulate.  And Carson who now leads in Iowa will have to be more specific than he has been in interviews recently. The focus of the debate is on money, the economy, growing jobs, etc so Trump could gain a footing due to his business background as could  Carly who seems to have stagnated.  Is Jeb going to fish or cut bait? And will Rand Paul or Rubio get a word in edgewise to increase their credibility.  Cruz seems to be content to hope for Trump's supporters if Trump falls down. Christie and Kasich will probably fold soon. I expect questions on the budget and increasing the debt ceiling with lots of fingers pointed in the air about what they would do as President. 4951

@Chrisinkingwood: Call me crazy but I think Kasich has more substance than most of the GOP candidates but somehow I don't think that matters.

@uneasyrider: Yes, he has at least laid out his positions on several issues better than the others. I just don't see him getting much traction and unfortunately we sometimes treat presidential competitions more like beauty pagents.

Kasich is the only candidate who isn't crazy, which is why he unfortunately won't get the nomination. If the Republicans were not so intent on burning down their own party, they would realize that he is the best bet to beat Hillary in the general - which is the whole point, right? He's moderate enough to take many of her votes and he already has Ohio (battleground state) in his pocket. As a Republican myself, I'm very disappointed that he isn't higher in the polls. But not surprised....As for the debate tonight....not watching. My beloved Rockets have their season opener tonight and that takes priority!  4951

I kind of liked Jon Huntsman in the last election, he was articulate and seemed more like one who could work in a bipartisan way so of course he did not get much attention. 4951

Watching the early debate.  Graham needs to go, he is an idiot!  So do the other three from this group, but especially him. I like Jindal, but I don't think this is his time.    4951

It was more like the candidates vs. the moderators.  The mods kept asking gotcha questions.  All the candidates kept calling them on it.  One of the consistent answers from everyone was:"We don't need more government."The GOP has a strong field. When the mods tried to get Huckabee to criticize Trump with "Does Trump have the character to be President," Huckabee gave a great answer."Trump would be a better President than Obama six days a week and twice on Sundays." 4951
