I carved it too early. I knew it was too early, but I was so desperate during all that rain over the weekend... I caved, I carved. Just look at it. Emoticon Hahahaha! I need some sunshine today.

Actually, that's pretty scary.  Even more so in another five days.  Perfect. 4951

If you pee inside your pumpkin it will last a lot longer

@mm4731:
Dang, I thought pee was useful for jellyfish stings only. ;-) Good to know. Anyone ever do a little pee-pee in their pumpkin? Please share your experience here. Haha 4951

@terilyntx: The Mrs. read somewhere that after you carve them, if you soak them in a mixture of water and bleach, that will make them last longer.  Not sure if it works yet, but we carved one on Sunday and soaked it.......we'll see how long it actually lasts.

I had 3 I used year before last.  I never carved them, and they sat around for decoration, until after Thanksgiving.  Never rotted.  I felt bad tossing them out.  So I spray painted them white, and used a dowel rod to hold them together and made a  snowmanEmoticon  Then darn things held up all through Christmas.

@Fallon:

Awesome idea! I may copy you. I need one more pumpkin though. DD & I decorated 2 pumpkins Sunday, but we just painted them. I didn't want to deal with carving. I did, however, do the little trend where you write your initial & trace it out with hammered nails.... Looks pretty glitzy Emoticon. Love the idea of saving them for snowmen though..... If not, I was thinking about making pumpkin bread & salted/toasted pumpkin seeds. 4951

Put it out in the pasture and the squirrels will devour it. 4951

You can also rub a bit of Vaseline on all the cut edges and around the inside. That will help keep it from rotting so quickly. 4951

I made that up. I just wanted to see if someone would actually do it

@mm4731:

I got 3 PMs from people who tried it!

Just kiddin'! ;-)

My mom called to let me know she just won a $25 gift card at her company's pumpkin decorating contest. Her carved pumpkin looked like mine by the middle of the day. She won because she was the only one who entered. Haha. Good job, Mom.
