Enlarged prostate can happen to almost aging men. As it grows bigger, it can press on the urethra (the tube that lets the urine pass), making it difficult to pass all the urine (feeling like you have to still go but can't). It can lead to UTI and bladder problems(infection). 4951

Saw Palmetto extract & beta sitosterol are dirt cheap supplements that actually work. 4951

I'm guessing they figure mostly older men listen to Rush. Since enlarged prostate affects 50% of men over 60 that might be their target audience. 4951

There must be good money to be made. I'm sure commercials on Rush aren't cheap

@Stealth83: It also means that the ad agency booking the ads sees potential in the target audience, older men with pee pee issues. As I recall he also has a lot of advertisers who promote investing in gold bullion, neckties, loan and funding companies, debt relief and counseling companies, golf supplies, pajamas for your loved one, weight loss, etc.

My in-laws always shake their heads at all of the pharma commercials we have here in the US.  In the UK you go to the doctor, they figure out what's wrong, and then send you to the chemist for your prescription.  Here we're encouraged to "consult your physician to see if <insert big pharma drug here> is right for you".I don't agree with a lot of the stereotypes that Europeans have about Americans, but we sure fit the the bill on that one.  4951

@shodan66:  I always feel a little guilty asking about a drug because it makes me feel like I just there to "get drugs."

@shodan66:  I am sick of those commercials from Big Pharma!  I also love how they list all of the many side-effects that could happen, which are usually worse than the problem the medicine is for.  The other thing they say is see your doctor if you experience any of these severe side effects (has happened to me!), but the doctors don't know how to counteract the medicine except to let it wear off.I have NEVER asked my doctors "Is this medicine I saw on TV right for me?" and NEVER will.  I have good doctors and I let them decide the proper medication I should take.  I do give them feedback if I have side effects, especially if they are significant.

I had a doctor tell me when I was much younger that I could avoid prostate problems later in life by exercising my prostate.  You do that by tightening your muscles of your anal/prostate area while you are urinating to stop the flow of urine (without using your hands).  Then relax and continue urinating.I don't know how much it helps, but I'm 60 and have no prostate problems.  Yes, I get the finger probe about once/year. 4951
