Good grief!  I just looked up the Radio Flyer wagon because my MIL wants to get one for our son for his birthday/Christmas this year.  Remember the old red metal wagons?  Yeah.....they are going for $150+ !  I did the "build your own" feature.... $277.  Huh?!  For some metal, wood, and wheels?  Dang, I am in the wrong business! 4951

Yeah, I know! Those wagons are up there in price. My FIL bought our DD one when she turned two. It's the sturdy plastic one though, and it was still $80 at the time. He also found an old metal, vintage one someone was getting rid of and gave us that one too; (it's a bit smaller though)... I currently have it in DS's room, where it's being used to hold his books. Maybe when he turns two, we can play around with it indoors, but the plastic one is safer for hikes. 4951

The REAL Radio Flyer is the best and worth the $$$. ( at least back in the day. I used the heck out of that wagon to haul all kinds of stuff ( loaded to the hilt with 80lb bags of sackcrete- 40lb concrete squares - tons and tons of bricks- the list goes on and on) way after the kids grew up and we're done with it! We sold it before we moved down here 13 years ago. We had it for 17 years!! You do the math 4951

LOL... I have used my daughter's to "wheel-barrow" stuff to the backyard, just like you mentioned... They sure do come in handy for more than what they're advertised for Emoticon 4951

@Jpgurl: I agree.  We had one as kids and it was a beast.  I just can't believe they are over $100 now!  Talk about inflation.  Yikes.  My little dude will be one this December, but he is big for his age, so I think it will be a good gift for him.  He can always grow with it.  I think I want to go with the traditional metal one with the wooden sides.  Did you know you can buy cushions for them now and speaker sets?  Crazy!  Mine was rusty and we sat on a towel, lol.  That is near child abuse today!

Nope! On the other hand, we had the one with the wood sides and bigger wheels for over 12 years before I sold it at a yard sale 4951

We got my oldest one when he was 2.  Best thing ever bought.  It was over 100 and that was 14 years ago.It was large, with the big tough tires, and had wooden sides, and a padded seat that could come out.Best money we ever spent.  Like @Jpgurl said, it was used for everything.  Taking the kids to the zoo, on hikes, and miles on the greenbelts.Mostly it brought in groceries, it carried bags of mulch, plants, and rocks.  Paint, sand, bricks.  If it needed to be carried, this wagon carried it.  We just gave it to some friends a few years ago.  We still hate that we gave it away.  I have a small one my youngest got for his first Easter.  It stays in his room, and hold stuffed animalsEmoticon
