I love the new Kia Commercial that has the dad with his son after winning the football championship and his son gets a participation trophy. The dad tears off the participant plaque and writes in champs.

I think that participation trophies are bogus and they don't teach kids to strive to excel at anything. If everyone is going to get a trophy anyway why try your best?

Only since you asked:

The "everyone wins" concept is a horrible lesson to teach our children. Life is a competition (school/class ranking, scholarships, spots in college, sports, jobs, promotions, etc.) and they should be learning confidence, pride in a job well done win or lose, how to give it your all even when you are losing, how to be good sports, win or lose, learning good teamwork and gracious winning and losing. This helps to form well-rounded, well-adjusted kids that can handle life's ups and downs that happen to everyone at every age.

The everyone wins just creates a generation of entitlement kids that think life is all sweet and rosy and thinks everything goes their way, they get applause and praise just because they show up. Nobody needs that. 4951

@thetarget9: Well hang on tight. Last time this came up, and I commented with the same position, I got slammed for it. I'd hate for you to get hit in the cross fire.

A study was done on people who drive Kia.  97.3 % of these drivers don't put their shopping carts in the cart corral.  4951
