Thanks to our girl pup!DH was walking the pups and heard snorting-he looked and a group of wild hogs were in the distance(very early in the morning).  One of the bigger hogs started to approach and then picked up speed to charge them. The girl started growling and snorting very loudly.  The hog was spooked and ran away-making the rest of the hogs follow.Stupid boy dog wanted to play with them.  4951

@allymansfield: Nowhere near Kingwood...so no worries there.  We knew there were coyotes, foxes, etc here but not hogs. The boy tried to play with a snake once-he lost.  I watch him stick his nose in ant hills.  The only animal he barks at are skunks. DH found that one out the hard way.

Hogs are an invasive species and they are growing large in population.  Most hogs are afraid of dogs because landowners hire trappers or hunters who use dogs to chase them or catch them. Me personally I am dealing with them constantly at my wife family property in the Hill Country where we ride in pickup trucks and just start shooting once they appear. Another thing to watch out for especially for your dogs is hogs are known carriers of Pseudorabies Virus (PRV) Swine brucellosis (Brucella suis) Bovine tuberculosis (TB)FADs African swine fever Classical swine fever (Hog Cholera) Foot and Mouth Disease www.smithsonianmag.c om/science-nature/a- plague-of-pigs-in-te xas-73769069/?n 4951

@BooBear: You would turn down a nice juicy Cajun sausage with black pepper. Not even a bear could resist it.

@RogueHippEE: We actually do have all of the above right here in good old Kingwood.  There have been a couple of threads about them tearing up some yards and they have even been spotted in the median on KW drive.

@shodan66: I remember.  I saw one hog there from a far distance.  I turned and walked in the other direction. My husband stepped on an alligator(or crocodile) at East End.  For some stupid reason, he thought going off trail would be smart.

I wouldn't even feed it to my dogs. I don't do pork and especially not wild hog..there is just nothing clean about them.
