Yes, we have a new house with a new dishwasher. But we hate it! You can't lower the top shelf and it looks cheap (which it probably was since it was from the builder). I hear the Bosch is the best one out there. Can anyone give me some advice on what's good and what to stay away from. It has to be stainless and I hate that black panel at the top, I want stainless from top to bottom. We're planning on a new fridge on black Friday so if anyone has purchased one recently I would love to hear about that too. This will be our first ever appliance purchase so shopping tips would also be appreciated. 4951

Few years ago, I went into Lowes and looked at something nobody looks at with dishwashers:     Underneath it.People looked at me weird, but what I discovered was they are all using the same parts!!!. Same motors, pumps, you name it...they are all about the same.  No way to get around it. They also were charging more for stainless, considerable more for the same machine. I ended up buying a white one, taking off the front, and replacing it with my broken stainless steel washer front (just the stainless sheet front not the controls). Can't even tell. Saved me about $100 or so. Samsung, I do find they make better designs, I have  a fridge I bought last year, works great and a nice design. If I needed a dish washer I would look at Samsung, Viking, Wolfe...think those are better. Rest, all about the same.   4951

@donnatella:

This time it's not really luck...just personal prefrence. Nothing we have to have, just want. We're all about having high tech stuff and we'll pay for it too. I saw this awesome Samsung dishwasher today that instead of the little spinny thing that shoots water it has something called a wave form that moves front to back. 4951

Not sure when you are buying but last year, Lowes and Home Depot had a huge sale on appliances, all of it was on sale, 30-40% off around Nov-Dec. I got a Samsung fridge, nice savings. Right after the sale the prices went back up. They also delivered and installed it for free (Home Depot). Saved me quite a bit of time and money.   4951

I also have a new custom built home, purchased a Kenmore dishwasher (stainless steel) with the controls hidden at the top, when it is closed you can't even see the controls which is very nice.  Also, very quiet too.  Kenmore Elite #14833, very impressed and not disappointed with this purchase.  This will be a great weekend to purchase too! 4951

@akmont: Kenmore makes some great products. Well worth the investment. Had Kenmore growing up and have continued to by them in my own homes.
