We haven't started potty training yet as our DD hasn't seemed interested at all. The last several days she hasn't been urinating as frequently. She doesn't seem dehydrated, and is continuing to drink liquids, not as often, but she does get enough on a daily basis. She isn't having any pain when urinating either.

Is infrequent urination a sign of potty training rediness? 4951

Yep. They get better at controlling and can hold more and longer. Good luck! I missed changing diapers. 4951

We had 3 in diapers many years ago, but we had 5 children! We used a diaper service and they delivered 90 per week just for the newborn and less for the older kids. I remember when we finally cancelled our service after using them for all 5 kids. The lady on the phone asked if we were dissatisfied and I said, "heck I should have bought stock in your company for as much money as we have given you!" 4951

You can do like the Chinese and potty train before they even walk.  My girlfriend is doing it with her girls (she is Chinese), her mom is here to help.  Mom said (via translation) that the daughter was potty trained by 18 months.  There are tons of videos about it on YouTube.  I showed my friend and she said that is exactly what they do in China where most toddlers are potty trained.  We are going to visit them this weekend and mom is going to teach me some things! 4951

@allymansfield: The difference being that in China- they just squat and go ANYWHERE! Hubby witnessed it when he was there. He learned pretty quick that those "piles" all over were just dog pooh!! The idea is good in theory but not sure how you are going to handle this in public here in the states. Hard to find a "target" in public

Some kids do well early and sometimes it back fires later.  I have seen both situations with my friends kids.   My daughter showed interest in being like the big kids.  She still isn't perfect.  I read it can take 6 months to a year before they use the potty regularly.   Luckily my daughter uses the potty at school since diapers are not allowed.  At home she does some days and other days I end up puting a diaper on her after she holds it for 4 hours and I need to get out of the house and she won't use the potty when asked.  She likes to use the bathroom on her own, if I ask she always says no.   4951

with both of my girls i did the 3-4 day potty training method and it worked.  started on friday--no panties, lots of water/juice.  a few accidents (i just quarantined them to the tile floor area), but by monday/tuesday there were fully potty trained.  both at about 2 years old. 4951

@aggiebutterfly:

That's what we'll do. And it's what we recommended when I was teaching.

On a side note...the other day she hadn't peed for quite some time. Then she had a poo blowout like I've never seen. I'm talking...I threw her pants in the garbage and changed her on the tile to make cleaning/ sanitizing easier! 4951
