Where do you go around here? We may have to be replacing a pickup truck in the very near future. Looking for a dealer that works well with trade-in, warranty options and good financing options. We haven't decided yet if we're replacing with another pickup or a car. Options are open. 4951

Budget? some used models are as expensive as new bc they are holding resale. Used market is hot right now. Unless getting 10 yrs old and then diesel 2500 with 300k miles are still 12k$. 4951

@ctl74: You clearly are not from Texas. You NEVER replace a truck with a car. Trucks are damn near mandatory in Texas. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes state law. 4951

@WskyTngoFxtrt: Ehhh everyone I know who has a truck uses it maybe 5 times a year for actual truck things. Now I know it sounds like the opposite but if you're up north with all that snow, 4x4 is mandatory.

@JerryJustice: I don't know about that.  I use my truck for truck things all of the time.  I was never really a truck person, but since I've owned one I'm not sure how I survived without it for so long.@Mccrj:Agreed.  My 2011 F250 diesel 4x4 is still valued at about 30k.  They hold their value forever.

Trucks, for Texans, aren't the stereotypical working truck some people picture - they are more like luxury vehicles with beds.....2 kinds of "trucks" - there are beat up clankin' trucks one might use at their farm in Brenham to haul dirt and hay and feed and brush, and then there are luxury trucks that you are proud (and hesitant actually) to Valet Park at the Ritz Carlton.....plus the fancy ones cost what houses used to cost....!!   Beautiful vehicles of transportation and comfort - plus I like sitting up high in traffic.....wish I could afford one again.....oh yea, and I'm a female...... 4951

@Mccrj: Totally agree! Looking to keep under $25K and 2010 or newer, if possible. Just looking for recs on a hassle-free, haggle-free place to shop. DH found some stuff at Tejas. We got my car last year at the Chevy dealer off 59 - the finance guy was great to work with; the sales guy, not so much.@WskyTngoFxtrt - you're so right! We're just torn on it bc, like @shodan66 said - we don't use the truck for hauling, etc., very often. And so the appeal of better gas mileage for DH to drive to and from work is very luring. (And the minute we get a car, will be when home projects, requiring hauling, starts!)Our current p/u is from the North and we have been replacing different undercarriage parts in the past 6 months due to erosion from the salt up North, mixed with the humidity down here... Just came to find out that the frame is corroding pretty good now, too. And the truck is 12 yrs old, which doesn't help. And completely paid off. Emoticon

@magnoliamam: I have to admit that mine is more along this line.  Although I do throw stuff in the back of it, haul sod and mulch when I need it, and pull a camper...for the most part it stays on the pavement.  I just drove it up to Missouri and back this past week riding like a king in leather heated and cooled seats with the cruise set and the HD/satellite radio playing.  It's more of an office on wheels than a truck at times.  And, yes, it did cost me more than either of my first two houses. @ctl74, when we were looking we drove down to Texas Direct Auto and I really liked the way they ran their shop.  You pick out whatever you want to test drive from their webpage and the salesman brings it around for you to drive.  They hand you the keys and you have 30 minutes to yourself to give it a spin.  Since they buy mostly auction cars, there's isn't a lot of mark-up or haggle room so the price will be pretty much what's on the sticker.  I shopped for about 6 months and ended up driving to Dallas because the truck I wanted was pretty specific, but I'd definitely give them a look if I were shopping the pre-owned market again.

@ctl74:$25K is doable for ~2010 models full size, fairly basic, 4 door, no 4x4, gas engine with about 50-75k miles. many trucks are out there 4951
