DW was craving some Gyros since we haven't had a decent one in awhile.Told her about the posts here on Savvas, she is like FETCH!So I kindly ask my phone to direct me to Savvas Greek Grill, and man was that easy.Took me like 17 minutes, going the speed limit (for the most part) and it did NOT take me through the most dreaded WLHP/1960/ATTroad intersections.Thank you google maps.DW got a straight up gyro, while I ordered mine no tomatoes and added onions. They got it right, first try.Their gyros were pretty good, not the best I have had, but a long way from the worst.Their fries were pretty nice, a little soggy after about a 20 minute drive home, but I can't blame Savvas for that. It's a small place, and the tables are a little tight, I would not call it handicapped friendly. But the service was as expected. Plenty to eat. I ordered an extra pita (DW wanted an extra one) and she made two sandwiches from her one with that. I just dumped about 2/3 of my tzatziki sauce on and attacked it, sure it was messing, but that's half the fun.I liked the tzatziki sauce because it was not cucumber over powering, DW said it needed to taste more like cucumbers.  4951

We love Savva's. It's also in the same shopping strip center as Chava's, that I posted about yesterday. Lots of hidden treasures along Atascocita Rd.

These locally owned non-chain places are the type of businesses I prefer to support as much as possible. Most of the time, the owners are there and really care about greeting and serving the customers. 4951

I usually stop there on Thursdays when we are headed to a home football game for my 9th grade GS at AHS. I agree it isn't like being in Greece but they try! We like the kabobs and moussaka and their baklava is pretty good. 4951

@Txbutterfly: Interesting, those (meatballs) are about the consistently bad thing on yelp reviews.
Couple reviews went as far as to say order anything except the meatballs (basically). 4951

If you are ever over The Woodlands way and have the Greek urge, try Olive Oil just west of 45 south off Rayford/Sawdust - I think it is just called Sawdust west of 45. Good food with live music and belly dancer. 4951

@rugburn:  Someone else was talking about that place just last week.  It sounds good...the food, not necessarily the belly dancers...they do nothing for me, but I'm sure the guys will enjoy it.

I was most commenting on the food. Its authentic and very good - also reasonable $$ and portions. Pita is extremely tasty, obviously fresh and made there. Check out the menu online. The music/dancer is entertaining. The experience is a pleasant change from the norm. 4951
