No, not really but he sure looks sad in this image. I think he would have rather been out on the golf course. 4951

He is actually a devout catholic and really did cry. Evidently he has been trying to get the pope here for a while. 4951

I loved the Pope's non political speech about immigration, gay marriage, taxes, and other political issues. 4951

The point is his speech was political.  Obama is using the Pope as a political tool, since the Pope agrees with most of Obama's ideals.Who woulda thunk Lenin's Pope would agree with our socialist President? 4951

So here are my questions: 1. why are taxpayers paying for a RELIGIOUS leaders visit and taking up time in our government? Well, technically he is the head of the city-state The Vatican and is elected by the Cardinals so he sort of is both a Religious and National leader. The only other religious leader who spoke before Congress I could find was the Dalai Lama who did an opening prayer in the Senate. I  think that the fact that he is the head of the church with over a billion followers puts him in different league. Also, Congress wastes so much time already I think it's nice to see them all sit down together and act nice for a change. They can get back to arguing and passing meaningless legislation that will go nowhere later. 2. WHat happened to separation of Church and State? I don't see a conflict, the government is not endorsing Catholicism by inviting it's leader to speak. 3. What's next, to be fair, shouldn't other relgious leaders speak to congress and be afforded the same considerations?Well, there nothing keeping the Congress from inviting anyone else although few religions of the size of the Roman Catholic Church have a specific leader like the Pope. Protestants are divided into many groups as are Muslims. I guess the head of the Mormon Church might be similar in position although their numbers are less. 4. Why should we care what one old white man thinks who lives in a "country" that isn't allowing any of the illegal immigrants to live there or gives any of their money to fund them? The Vatican sits on about 100 acres within the city  of Rome and has agreed to take in some refugee families. The Pope has also instructed all European RC parishes to do their part as well and many are stepping up to the plate. I am no longer a RC but I can assure you that through the churches charities they are helping financially by feeding and housing many immigrants and refugees.

Of course Obama is endorsing the Pope and his ideals.  That's because the Pope is parroting Obama's ideals.The Constitution contains an establishment clause and a free exercise clause.  The fed cannot establish a national religion, and the fed cannot stop people from exercising their religious beliefs.  Liberals interpreted this to mean the opposite of free expression: separation of church and state.But liberals will relax their shrieking about separation if the Pope agrees with their ideals.A nation suffers under an evil leader.  This is one example of suffering under the evil Obama. 4951

@fcabanski:

It's all about amnesty...if the pope and Osama can push amnesty in the USA and get it through it is a win win for both of them. The democrats get their votes and the failing Catholic church would have the church pews filled again.

People are crazy for this pope but until he stops the child molesting in the Catholic church and make sure those who have abused children are punished like all other offenders, he really has accomplished nothing in my eyes. 4951

there are religious leaders who have addressed congress before. in fact there is an opening prayer before each congress begins its sessions usually these days from multiple religious leaders so every one gets to stick an oar in the water.seems like some people have been reading the hatesites again...http://www.latimes.com/opinion/topoftheticket/la-na-tt-francis-is-a-fake-20150922-story.html 4951
