I am looking for the floor plans to my house in South Woodland Hills. Does anyone know who the original builders were or if there is a place to go look them up? Thanks! 4951
Did the previous owner(s) leave you anything that would indicate the original builder? Â If not, you might have a difficult time tracking them down. Â I'm sure there are records of the builder somewhere, but I have no idea where. Â There is also a high probability that different builders were involved in your village. Â Here in Greentree, I can remember at least three builders.Even if you can find the original builder, it's unlikely they will let you have (or sell you) anything except the most basic foor plan.I bought my house new. Â I wanted to purchase a full set of construction blue prints for my house but was refused. Â They didn't give any reason except "company policy" but I suspect it was to avoid any future issues where construction did not exactly match the blue prints. 4951
No, they did not leave anything. My parents lived in the same neighborhood (South Woodland Hills) and said they think it is a Ryland Home. I contacted Ryland and they said even if they had the prints (probably not due to the age of the home) that it is company policy not to sell them. We are wanting to move the water heater out of the attic but don't want to go around punching holes in walls to find somewhere to fit it. 4951
I can find it for you if you want to PM me your address (I know, sounds creepy but I helped someone else here find their builder) or you can go to HCAD, find the earliest listed owner then go to Harris County Clerk Office and look in Real Property record and backsearch from there. 4951
Thanks so much Maisey1. If I can go to the County Clerk's office, I will take a day and do that. I used to research title for O&G in college so I think I can do it. I wasn't sure how it all worked since Kingwood was not part of Houston when it was built. Would you mind if I PM'ed you if I can't figure it out? 4951
sure - I love looking stuff up like that. BTW, you don't have to go in person to the county clerk either just go to www.cclerk.hctx.net/ and since kingwood has always been in harris county it will be there. Â 4951
Ryland did a bunch. others were semi-custom. What street are you on?Ours was a Ryland and at one time you could find more or less the same floorplan.  perhaps check the Ryland site? permit is a good idea, but not sure if that would be available. 4951
