Somebody please, please explain to me how you can have no insurance, no driver's license, get into an accident, get four tickets and then be allowed to drive away?? 4951

I have no idea why that would happen outside of someone not wanting to do paperwork. Is there any reason to doubt the legal immigration status of the driver? 4951

Well, it doesn't take pieces of paper to get into a car, turn the key and put it into drive.  It takes common sense, knowledge and unselfish awareness that there are others in your surroundings that can be hurt by selfish actions. 4951

It's been happening in Houston for at least 20 years.  My brother was T-boned by someone who had no license, no insurance, no form of identification, no proof they owned or had the right to drive the car, and spoke no English.  The officer wrote them a ticket, MADE OUT IN THE NAME THEY GAVE HIM, TO A FAKE ADDRESS THEY GAVE HIM, and the cars were towed away.  My brother of course had to file with his insurance under the uninsured motorist part of his coverage.  That's how we roll in H-town! 4951

We had a uninsured driver with no license drive his van into our house. We had to use our insurance to pay for the 45,000 in damage to our house. He couldn't pay cause he died.  4951

@mm4731: Shake your head all you want. I had one hit my truck years ago and totaled it. POS was drunk, no license, no insurance, and they would not even take him to jail. Threatened to take ME to jail if I did not settle down. I received no ticket as the POS ran thru a stop sign. UIM on my policy took care of the damage...He got into another vehicle with someone and flew the coop. Never to be heard from again....the car he was driving he just left at the scene. They get away with it because they CAN, and ****** its WRONG....

A few years ago, my son was stopped at a red light.  Someone slammed into the car behind my son, pushing that car into my sons.  The police were called and the driver that caused the accident did not have liability insurance.  Yes, he was Mexican.  The policeman advised both my son and the guy that was shoved into him to handle it with their own insurance because they could try suing the guy that caused it but would never collect anything.  The driver didn't even get a ticket for not having liability insurance.Fortunately, my son's car only had a slight dent in his rear bumper.  Unfortunately, the car behind him had more significant damage. 4951

They let him drive away! I'm baffled! He had no license? Why didn't they tow the vehicle?
No insurance, no DL and just caused the accident? !
I can't wrap my head around this! 4951

@Cynthia#1: I don't know the exact answer but will speculate:  Sanctuary city, don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, and a minor issue compared to more major crime issues that the police need to handle.  It's okay to hurt the feelings of the license-holding, insured person, because their insurance will cover it.  In my most sarcastic tone, surely that won't cause everyone's insurance rates to go up...

I mean don't get me wrong, I understand that they have more important things to do. I am glad that nobody got hurt including the other people, especially thankful that my daughter did not get hurt as this was her very first accident in the five years that she has been driving. seems so illogical to allow somebody to get back into a car that has no insurance and no drivers license that just caused an accident.
see now I'm ranting, I'm sorry everybody. 4951

@Cynthia#1: I think this depends on the jurisdiction.  I know in the City of Conroe, if you get pulled over and have no insurance or no license, they are taking you to jail and towing your vehicle.  City of Houston, not so much.  I think it has far less to do with race or anything like that and more to do with paperwork and jail space.
