Why do they serve it so dang hot you can't drink it? I got an egg mcmuffins and a coffee this morning. The coffee burnt my tongue and spilled on me cause Ithe cup was cracked! Not a pleasant experience. 4951

They're Not supposed to crank up the heat on the coffee. They got sued in the 90's little old lady walked away with millions of dollars. Call them up and tell the manager you calling corporate because the coffee is scalding hot. I bet they turn it down. I hope you feel better health wise. 4951

@foxymama: They don't do the 2 cup thing like Starbucks?  I know it wouldn't help with the burned tongue, but would with the crack.I wonder if that guy who sued them for millions over hot coffee won.

There was an older lady who sued McDonalds years ago because she spilt the hot coffee in her lap and burned herself...she won tons of money and I think she was the reason they started putting "Caution hot" on the cups..hope you feel better soon. 4951

Coffee is supposed to be hot. I don't want luke warm or med hot coffee. I want hot coffee. If it's too hot, let it cool down before taking a sip.

Sorry you burnt your tongue. 4951

@aggiebutterfly:

Coffee is suppose to be hot, just not so hot that it burns your skin off if it gets spilled. 4951

I want my coffee hot enough that if it does fall on my lap it will burn. If I spill it, it's my fault for being a clutz... 4951

It is unreasonably hot. I know there are some people who prefer it that way though. They are used to people asking to add a few pieces of ice to the coffee in the drive thru.

Hell we should be putting caution hot on the microwave and oven too. I've burned my fingers picking up plates from the microwave. Guess I should sue the plate company and GE for making my food too hot!

And let's not forget the snow cone makers, Bahama bucks. Damn brain freeze. 4951

It's not my thread. Lol.

On the surface, the story about the lady who sued seemed frivolous, but I read it more in depth a year or two ago and I get it. She was hospitalized for a while, needed skin grafts, etc. And the amount of the suit was not her idea. It was meant to set a precedence or something like that. I need to read it again.

@Mahm has it right, it was a complex case.  I like my coffee and pizza hot, and my mouth often pays the price, but the McDonald's case involved some very serious injuries. I could post a pic but it's probably too graphic for this board.  Just google Stella Liekbeck burns and check google images if you want to see them, and remember that McDonald's still serves the coffee this hot. 4951

@Mahm:

This is so true, many people read what the media puts out and determine it's frivolous when in reality the coffee was entirely too hot for consumption and gave her 3rd degree burns. When she tried to get MacDonald's to pay her medical bills they offered her a very tiny amount so she was in a way forced to sue. The jury actually awarded her millions but a judge reduced it to less than 700K, they settled for an undisclosed amount. From what I understand, she died before ever seeing a cent of that money. 4951
