Here's some news on upcoming repairs being made to Kingwood Drive.Press Release:Houston City Council Member Dave Martin is pleased to announce that in an effort to provide more permanent pothole repairs, the City of Houston's Public Works and Engineering Department will be the Kingwood area to install a panel replacement near the intersection of Kingwood Drive and Willow Terrace. Beginning Monday, September 21 construction will begin on the left westbound lane. Crews are expected to have the work completed within 14 days, weather permitting. Â Â Construction crews will operate between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and possibly on Saturdays to expedite the construction. During this time, please expect the left westbound lane to be closed, due to these construction activities. Flaggers and caution devices will be put in place on site that will help with traffic flow through the construction zone. Additionally, the lanes impacted by construction will be closed overnight during the concrete curing process, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. Council Member Martin's office has also worked with the Houston Police Department's Kingwood Substation to help ease traffic congestion. Â Â For more information, please contact Council Member Dave Martin's office at (832) 393-3008 or districte@houstontx.gov. Â 4951
I hope they have a plan for when school lets out. Â The traffic is already dead stopped in the right lane as people just park along the road and wait for their kids to come out instead of using the parking lot. 4951
And just a FYI Rocky Brook, Spring Lodge and Woodland Grove do NOT cut through to Timber Shade- you have to go up to Sycamore Creek. We had a big stream of traffic down my street trying to find a shortcut. Also the speed limit is 30 NOT 45 like Kingwood Dr- have a little respect for your neighbors 4951
Sadly this is still just a band aid approach to fixing major roads that are beyond what they were designed for as far as age and the number of cars they serve. No news on the widening of KW Dr. or Northpark. Just keep driving and wait in the long lines at every intersection. This morning I took my wife to work as I needed the Avalon for mom's Dr. appointment (she can't get into the Land Rover), we left at 8:15 out of SWH at the light on KW Dr. and Woodland Grove which is just under 1.7 miles. It was bumper to bumper to the freeway, took 18 minutes. The lights at Royal Forest (Randalls up front) and Loop 494 and the 59 feeder were all out of sync. And that is at 8:15 after much of the school traffic has passed. 4951
