I remember like it was yesterday.  My daughter was in grade school.  I was driving down 1960 to work when the DJ announced a plane had hit the World Trade Center.  I was waiting for the punch line.  My parents were in Pennsylvania not far from where the plane crashed there.  We could not get ahold of them.  They were driving with no radio on and stopped to eat.  Someone there told them what was going on.  They headed straight home.My Mother always says she remembers what she was doing when they announced Kennedy had been assasinated.  This will be the same for me.  Like it was yesterday....God Bless America! 4951

The wife and I were lying in bed listening to the radio which was our alarm to get up. Funny thing is it was the segment of the BBC news so we heard it from London first. We put the TV on, I think it was Good Morning America or the Today Show. We saw it all, I wanted to vomit. We watched it until the towers fell down. I turned it off and went upstairs to my office. I put on Brahms 2nd Symphony and cried. Funny but the only other thing that has upset me as much was when we went to the USS Arizona monument at Pearl Harbor. So quiet, a few older people with tears in their eyes, perhaps they lost family members or friends. So many killed in such a short moment. Killed in such a violent way. Makes me think of the line from Star Wars, "I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices
suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear
something terrible has happened." 4951

I lived in a high rise in Dallas. I had worked the night before so I was sleeping. My sister knocked on my door and told me what had happened. When I looked out on the freeway there was not a single vehicle on the road. 4951

I lived in Jersey at the time and my view from my 9 foot bay window was the NY skyline when I was home.  I was at work and the way the way my office building was set up there was a window but the sign blocked my view.  People were driving and calling me telling me what happened.  As I walked out the long driveway (it was a used car dealer and I was in the garage) that is when the 2nd plane hit.  I couldn't believe what I was seeing.  We stood and watched it for hours.  We watched both buildings come down.  I previously worked in 7 World Trade Center and that fell down later in the day.  That was one of the worst feelings in the world to watch that.  I have a few relatives that walked home from NY that day. 4951

I was home sick that day with the flu.  I couldn't sleep the night before, so I sat up and finished reading a book.  In the book, it had an airplane loaded with explosives remotely controlled and the target was the Pentagon.  When I got up the next morning and turned on the TV, I thought I was dreaming.  The first tower had already been hit when I turned on the TV and I watched the second tower get hit.Let's also not forget the brave passengers of United Flight 93 that banded together to force their way into the cockpit, resulting in the loss of everyone on board but no one injured on the ground.  4951

I remember being frustrated that I couldn't sit glued to the TV once I learned what had happened. I had a 2 year old daughter at the time who just wanted to play and have me pay attention to her.It was eerie with nothing on TV, no planes in the sky, hardly any traffic. A few months after everything happened, I sat down and wrote out everything I could remember so my kids would have a first-hand account of that day.I think it was later in the day when it was known that it WAS  an attack/terrorism, I went outside and put up our American flag and said, "Here I am  you **********s.  Come and get me."I was one **** off little mama. Still am.  Emoticon 4951

@Leauxl: Surreal.  That is what I remember most.
I've gotta say that I was a bit disappointed today.  There were only 4 of us on my street that had put out a flag or showed any patriotism.  4951
