What's the deal with these?   granddaughter just came in with one and said she has to sell five at 20 dollars each or pay for them herself.  I remember buying a better version years ago for athletes...but didn't remember them being mandatory.anyone eat out a lot and want one?? 4951

My daughter had those last year, she wasn't forced to sell 5 but if she did we got one for free. She knocked on the neighbor's doors next door and across the street and sold all 5 in 30 minutes(we had some really great neighbors!) so we got ours free. 4951

If it is the Panthers card with the 'keychains" I will buy one. Those are really good cards. 4951

@msuz:  As long as she returns any unsold cards, they can't make it mandatory that she pay for them herself.  If they try, they leave themselves wide open to a lawsuit.  Students are not slave salespeople.

Hated fundraisers.  And why should anyone get one free?  Just lower the price of the cards. 4951

@SenseOfHumor: maybe as in incentive to get the kids to go out and actually try to sell the card? Otherwise the kids would just hand the cards back and say -no thanks. I am not a huge fan of fundraiser like that and when my daughter came home with them she asked if she could sell them to the neighbors. I was actually shocked that the cards went so fast and that the neighbors were just waiting for someone to come by and sell them.  4951

I heard nothing about getting one free - either this year or back when our kids were at KHS.  But she has sold all but one already!I'm remembering more  - first it was those the entertainment books until every school and many organizations started selling them also.  Then the athletic boosters (?) started doing the card. I remember when the cards had Cliff's and Skeeter's deals on them.... was just surprised at the "have to"!   My frequent approach to fundraisers is just to donate instead of sell. chuckled at the post going around the internet the other day. 4951
