  I've always just used over the counter products but have also used some of the products from BugTime.   But lately I have had house roaches show themselves around the house and if there is one thing I can't stand it's a roach or small flying bug inside the home.   I'm leaning towards hiring a professional to bulletproof the house.  I've considered hoping on Groupon and seeing what is available at a discount cost but I wanted to get some feedback from people I can trust.  But I also figured I'd ask posters on KDC too. Emoticon   Any recommendations?  4951

We've used Ballards since we bought our house and have never had issues. Very nice people and very reasonable $50.00 quarterly. We have them spray every 3 months and have never had any bugs at all in our house. 4951

We use Reliant Pest Management - they come out every 3 months and it's around $90. I haven't seen any bugs in the house at all. They also sweep the eaves for wasp nests. I had them spray inside the very first time and now they just spray around the outside and the yard and still no bugs in the house. 4951

We've used Bill at Deerbrook Exterminating for the entire 8 years we've been here. I think it's $55 every 3 months. And if you spot a bug (which rarely happens), he'll come back and do it again at no extra charge. Very nice guy, and so are his employees/sons. 281-358-7378  4951

I used to use them. They would never send the same guy out nor would they note my account of what we needed. They kept showing up when I wasn't home and with the ferrets I couldn't have them spray around them. Also they were told and paid extra to spray around and on an oak tree that we were fighting web worms. They never sprayed the tree we ended up with a bee hive and a woodpecker that killed my tree due to the bugs on and in it. Cost me over $1500 with hiring a bee keeper and tree cutters to remove my 50 foot tree!! I will never use them again. 4951

We switched from Termanix to Reliant and we've been fairly happy. We still get the big tree roaches towards the end of our cycle but nowhere near the problems we were having before. We are right up next to the greenbelt & creek so it's an ongoing battle. It's an set house so it's not as well sealed either. BUT, still pretty happy with Reliant, 4951

@Maisey1:   Maybe not.   They are also spraying the yard.  These other prices might not be.  I have pets so a good yard spraying would be good.

True, we have not seen any mosquitoes either since they have been coming out, and we live right next to the woods and have a retention pond behind us. We do see plenty of snakes though. 4951

Ballard's is one of the best. I have to highly recommend them.  They also do a termite inspection for you.@angiekaye, a woodpecker will not kill your tree.  Woodpeckers only show up when they have a food source.  We have a ton of woodpeckers in our backyard, and have for the past 10 years.  They haven't killed a tree yet.   But they will destroy a bird feeder in a NY minute!  If I don't keep the feeders full, they peck at the plastic until it cracks.

@Fallon:

Oh believe me he did. We had hundreds of holes in the tree that he pecked out. Before we hired preventive we only had a handful of them. Once we walked around the tree and looked up about 20 feet we saw the hundreds of holes. And yes I caught the little red headed butthead in action He also would peck on the metal part of our chimney. Drove me nuts at 6am to be woken by that meanie 4951

@Maisey1:
When we lived in the country we used to empty the cat boxes on out property line to keep the snakes away from our horses. It worked. But here in kingwood I don't think my neighbors would like it. But it does work! The urine of a cat snakes hate

There are hundreds of holes in your tree because he hears hundreds of insects in your diseased tree. That's what attracts them, as previously stated by @Fallon. 4951
