Not a fan. The food is alright but I hate the Plain Jane decor and food presentation. Might as well get good seafood take out from Pappas, Catfish Cafe or Sharkey's and eat out of the to go bag. 4951

I like them when I'm in the mood for some fried shrimp and oysters.  The closest one was next to Veron's Meat Market, then move farther west on 1960 closer to Humble, then to Beltway 8.  My wife and I tried to go to the one on the Beltway, but it was closed and being changed to Sambas. After a Google search, I DO see a new address on 1960 near the Oak Forest Elementary School.  8061 FM 1960 East, but I can't confirm that's accurate. 4951

There are several Baytown Seafood Restaurants in the Houston area.  My first experience with them hem was at one in Deer Park and they did a good lunch business back then. 4951

If you want great "fried" seafood, it's worth the drive to Pasadena to Sudie's. It's nothing fancy but has incredible food. Next would be to the Momunent Inn over across the Lynchburg ferry on Battleground Road. Great food, nothing fancy but it overlooks the water and you can watch the ships go by. 4951

The new Sambas was lame. TINY shrimp and the service sucked. Goofy teenagers that have no clue how to wait on people. 4951

@donnatella: There is also a Sudie's on I-45 in League City. Excellent food.

@WskyTngoFxtrt: Thanks, I had no idea. I still love the old original dive location.

@WskyTngoFxtrt: I-45 N near Airtex or Richey. We took friends there because they had never been to the original location. It just wasn't as good, service sucked. They just couldn't duplicate the one if a kind original (food, dive atmosphere, people, etc.) It closed years ago. Mamacita's is there now.

It's like trying to make all Ninfa's like the original on Navigation....just can't do it.

I don't mind dives, in fact some of the best places in Houston are dives (Original Ninfa's, Last Concert and Josephine's downtown, Trigg's Humble Inn, etc.). However, they better have the chops to back it up and put out some damn good food. There is just too much competition to half-*** the decor AND food, or have something to make it special. It's gotta be either worth the drive or worth foregoing the nicer places.

Baytown Seafood started off that way but they expanded too quickly to too many locations and quality tanked. 4951

I've really been digging Momba Seafood. For under $10 you can get a lot of food. The fried rice is a must. 4951
