Tara Monroe (Kingwood) has chosen to drive a Barbie Jeep around Texas State University after her license was suspended for DWI. Monroe's father drove from Kingwood to San Marcos to confiscate her car, so she was left with few options...None of which she was pleased with. "Riding a bike around campus sucks. Like really sucks!" said Monroe. She plans on taking her jeep (Charlene) to the square to celebrate her 21st birthday soon. I'm glad to see dad confiscated her car. At least there's a good part of the story. Other than that, yeesh what a train wreck. 4951

It's very sad and pitiful that she already had a DWI...very disturbing, however, you gotta admire the sense of humor and the creativity in getting around in the meantime. It would be funny if not involving such a young person with alcohol issues. She should clean herself up and focus that creativity toward an writing, marketing or "Facebook or Google" type career. Those companies are always looking for innovative creative thinkers. Sober, she could be great at it. 4951

This young lady is far from an idiot! I can assure you she is a very smart girl.. Just because she made one mistake does not make her a bad person. At least she's finding her way around and to school!! Instead of coming home giving up and acting like the rest of Kingwood area kids, who what rob people and doing drugs?! Yeah, get over yourself. 4951

I'd totally drive a powerwheels. But it would have to be modded out with stickier tires and bumped from 12v to 36v or 48v for speed. 4951

@MTechnique: My kids had a barbie jeep many years ago - they left if down the street so I thought I'd try to drive it back home. I didn't think I'd get out of that thing! My husband had to pull me out. No barbie jeeps for me!

@MTechnique: Exactly - it would need some serious upgrades if you were trying to get across campus.  Besides, that's a hilly campus.  At least 48v and hopefully a place to recharge when you are in class.

Riding a bike around campus "sucks" but the Barbie Jeep is a *better* solution.Or maybe she just likes the attention. 4951

I never got a DUI but when I was younger I did some foolish things. I learned from those and try not to repeat them now. 4951

She looks ridiculous in that jeep.  What got me most about this whole thing, is how FILTHY her apartment, or whatever was in that pic looked.  I saw trash all over the floor.  It appears everything about her is in disarray.  I hope she stays and completes her degree.  She is going to need it. 4951
