None of these fit true for us....I have approximately 4000 books , workbooks, activity books and magazines in my home right now. My Daughter reads at least 2...300 page books a week. I read more online....you can not go through my home and NOT find stacks of books...lol....this is my upstairs living room right now. These are actually for sale as they are service manuals but I promise in 20 years hubby has probably read them all. My garage is full too and we are frequently at the library checking books out!!!! Hubs and,my kid have total book addiction....lol.

I can believe those stats.I periodically found time during college to read short books, usually science fiction.  It broke up the tedium of technical textbooks.l used to have a rule that if I wasn't into a book by page 50, I set it aside and never finished it.  Now with my Kindle, I use 20%.Since I got my Kindle, it's probably been 5 years since I was inside a bookstore.  I do still buy some paper books, but I buy through Amazon.On average, I probably read one book per week. 4951

I used to have two buddies that were also avid readers.  We used to trade books all the time.@Burnsway:  You'll soon fimd yourself on the show Hoarders!  When we fill up a set of built-in book shelves, we go trough them and donate some to the library or the Disabled Vets. 4951

I use to love to read and really want to get back to it, but lately I have not found a book to keep my interest. I have gone back to authors that usually keep my interest but still no luck. When I try to read my mind keeps thinking of the things I should/could be doing doing and I can't concentrate on the book. I try reading before bed but figure out quickly that I'd rather just be sleeping. I can read on vacation, but these days that's a foreign word to me. 4951

I have not read a fiction book in about 10 years. I think the last one was "Along Came a Spider" by James Patterson. I do purchase and read instructional and reference books for parenting, nutrition, etc. I suppose you could call that my chosen field. 4951

@Retired_Engineer: ..lol.. no, we keep them organised, we donate and sell about 1000 a year. I just posted that picture because I think it fits the post well that some of us are still into books. Those are service manuals that are actually worth a pretty penny. I am listing 30 a day, hubs will be selling whats left at a few swap meets....these shelves were just put in my kids room last night so now all her books and school curriculum and crafts can be in one place instead of all over the house...lol I could never live like a hoarder. I like my house tidy. Hubs could if I let him though. I think my kid could too. They both have a lot of trouble parting with things.

@Retired_Engineer: I thought I got rid of/donated a ton of books when we moved.  As I unpack, I am noticing our 6 floor to ceiling built ins being filled with books.  One set takes up a whole wall.  I can't believe how many books we have.

Yep I keep purging them too. I always take them to the library. Will have to look into disabled vets.
We have 5 tall and 2 short book cases that are full, 1 built in full and I keep certain ones tucked in drawers etc.
I like the feel of a book, I like turning the pages, but most of all I love to get to the end and turning the back cover closed. You Can not do that on a machine. 4951

Avid reader here, both fiction and non, usually have one of each going.  I like having a kindle so that I can have both with me at any given time.  I tried and tried to install a love of reading in my kids, but neither one would have any of it.  I hope that is something that develops as they get older, it did for me.  I did not want to look at a book when I was in college.  I did not have Netflix either. 4951

I'm jealous of your shelves! I've ran out of them for my library, so I have my books lined up in rows along the floor. 4951

And I thought *I* had a lot of books! I guesstimated recently somewhere around 2,000 in my library, largely science fiction/fantasy, though I do have some nonfiction. I shudder at the thought of moving. ALL. THOSE. BOOKS. I did recently buy a Kindle Paperwhite for more variety and less weight on the go, but it doesn't quite work well with Half Price Books or library sales.... bit pricey to rebuy everything in ebook format =/ 4951

@Quats:

I've decided next time I move, I need to build my own house and make sure it has a library like the one in Beauty and the Beast (Disney version). I have a lot of books (can you have too many?!) and am not looking forward to having to move all of them either. 4951
