What temperature do you leave your ac on while you sleep? I need some answers. We are having a family debate. 4951

We have a programmable thermostat so the temp changes from day to night in both summer and winter. We try to keep it around 75-76 during the day but on a hot day maybe a touch lower. We keep it between 72-73 at night but again, it depends on heat and humidity. That being said a lot depends on other factors like the type of windows you have and how well insulated your home is. The older homes here were built when energy costs were much lower. My home has new double pane glass and we have added insulation and a reflective barrier in our attic. That means our AC has to work less. Ultimately it is up to you and your family as to what you are comfortable with. 4951

@cindysthpw: Is "a family debate" code for you and The Hubs are bickering over the thermostat? LOL. He likes 76 or 77. I wait until he goes to sleep then I set it on 72. Problem solved. Emoticon 4951

@thetarget9:

Yikes! I do too, but we lower from 77 to 75 for night (with all ceiling fans running). 2-story, 2800-sq ft house

My nose would be blue at 67. 😂 4951

@ctl74: But think of all the cute scarves that would match a blue nose! 4951

73 night or day except when the Nest does it's own thing. Shooting for 75 to save some $, but I'm weak.

I was in the hospital last week for a night and the thermostat was set to 69, I was a popsicle. 4951

72 at night  and 73 during the day unless it hits 100 outside then we leave it at 72 for the dog.P.S. for those that think that is cold, we never get sick. When you keep high like 78 you are not letting germs get killed off. 4951

66 at night. DH can cover up with blankets to warm up, but I can't do anything more than I already do to cool down. He's a smart cookie and has never complained about my hot flashes.

Spent two L. O. N. G. weeks at my dad's where they crank it up to 79 at night. It was like I was cocooned in an oppressive thick wool electric blanket. 4951
