Looks like not everyone is on board with this "honoring" and it's good to see the university students stand up for unemotional common sense!!!

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- A petition is now going around to reverse the decision to rename the parkway leading to Prairie View A&M University after Sandra Bland.
More than 1,200 people have signed the change.org petition to keep the University Drive name.
The petition's creators wrote that "although we sympathize with the situation and understand (the Bland family's) desires that her name be spoken, we would prefer that it not be forever the driving force into or around Prairie View A&M University."
Students on campus seem mixed about the plans to change the street in Bland's honor.
"I understand what they are trying to do, I just don't know if renaming the street is the best way to do it," said Prairie View A&M student Raymond Thomas. "I think it will bring a negative connotation or a negative energy to the school."
Bland was pulled from her car during a traffic stop in July. She later died in the Waller County Jail. Officials say she committed suicide.
Many people say she should never have been arrested, and renaming the street will make sure her death is not forgotten.
"Any time police officers stop anybody on this street, they will have to write (Bland's) name down on the ticket and they will have to remember what they did to her," said Prairie View A&M student Aubrey Brown.
City officials plan to change University Drive to "Sandra Bland Parkway" in October. 4951
