Our dog daughter of almost 14 years went to Rainbow Bridge on the 23rd of August, just 2 days before my birthday. We miss her everyday, we loved her dearly and we still do. My heart is still heavy, aching and missing her comforting presence. The little things, our daily routine; taking her for a walk, preparing her food and water bowl, cuddles and hugs, coming home with her wagging tail, her waking up from a nap to check on us, following around the place even to the bathroom to name a few. Just emptiness without her, my hubby and I are coping one day at a time. Life is short, even shorter for our four-legged family member(s). Please take the time to appreciate both two-legged and four-legged family members. Show love and lots of hugs.

Best regards to all 4951

We had to put our dog of many years to sleep just days before I gave birth to my one and only daughter.  It was an emotional roller coaster but what got me thru was the thought that when the Lord closes a door, somewhere he opens a window.  Those may not be the exact words but you get the gist.I am sorry for your loss but you are super lucky to have had a pet that you loved so much.  Keep your memories close to your heart. 4951

So sorry to hear of you loss and Internet hugs from all of us. We lost our yellow Lab of 14 years earlier this year. Just like an aging parent I saw the changes in her daily life. She would sleep through any noise, I think she sometimes had trouble with vision and every now and then left me a surprise on the carpet and was so embarrassed by that. One day we think she may have had a stroke, her balance was all off and she kept getting up and falling or crashing into furniture, she was obviously so upset, panting and looking distressed. We made that hard choice that I know you made but it was for the best. We were lucky enough to find a vet who came to our home and took care of what was needed and we petted our dog as she drifted off to her final sleep. We also found a service that came to our home just as the vet was done and after tearful goodbyes our dog was taken care of. The vet was very thoughtful and asked if we would like a clay imprint of our dog's paw print, she brought a small circle of clay. She also clipped some of her hair for us to keep. Remember they are never really gone, only physically. Your dog's spirit is still following you around ever day... well that's what I believe. 4951

I am so very sorry. My husband just knew I would be a total wreck when my 24 year old kitty passed. And actually her living with me since she was 5 weeks and knowing how hard her life was I dealt with it better than even I thought. But when I lost my little ferrets that about broke me. It's been several years since AJ passed and since she was my first fuzz butt I still cry for her.

Losing those babies only makes me pray that one day I can spend eternity with them Emoticon 4951

It only takes time, and when you have to go through something like this, it makes you wonder if it's worth it. But please always remember what a good life you gave her. There are so many out there who never get a shot. You gave her a great life, and she loved you. Emoticon 4951

I am sorry for your loss. It's hard. I never realize how much of my heart they occupy until they are gone. And I always swear I won't go through it again- it's too painful- but then ... We always get another!! God thoughts for a healing heart 4951

Sad News...I'm dealing with this as we speak....   My 13+ Golden Retriever, Crystal is struggling... About a year ago she had what appeeared to be a stroke.....  She could not walk, would not eat or drink and her head tilted to one side....  It was TERRIBLE to watch... Come to find out there is a condition referred to as Old Dogs Disease which appears like a stroke but they can recover given time.... I  fed her and gave her water with a turkey baister....  It was soo hard to watch but after about a week she started getting stronger...   Two weeks later she was eating, drinking, going outside to do her business - the only sympton left was a slight tilt to her head..Well yesterday I came home and she can't walk...  She had thrown up all over herself and peed herself...  I was able to get her outside and wash her up.....I then got her back inside and made her comfortable... She ate some boiled chilken.  This morning I took her out again... Poor baby wags her tail but she is not well.    Getting her around is difficult as she is about 95lbs...  I'm praying for her to get better .........or it is her time that she goes quickly and peacefully...   She has been the most awesome and loyal dog...  I heled her give birth to 12 pups...  We  mourned Mufassa together a couple years ago, she is my first Golden Retriever - truely a gentle soul..Gotta love them everyday..... Dogs only downside is that they don't live long enough......   Please say a prayer for her.....  4951

So sad to lose a pet. My girls use to say you love the dog more than us. I said well he never asks for a car, doesn't stay out late, never asks for my credit cards. Then we'd all laugh. Try to remember the fun things about your pet. It's like losing a part of you. Prayers for you. Golden girl, puppy prayers for your Goldie. 4951
